About The Position

The individual must be reliable, have a basic understanding of the YMCA policies and procedures, must have the ability to effectively handle building and member concerns and work toward a positive outcome. The individual should have the ability to support staff to ensure the building operates in a safe manner and policies and procedures are carried out. The individual should know the steps of reacting in any emergency situation and should have the ability to remain calm in any given situation.

Requirements

  • Must be minimum of 21 years of age
  • CPR and First Aid certified
  • Professional and mature appearance
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in writing
  • Ability to respond in an emergency

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all health and safety guidelines are strictly adhered to.
  • Open or close building based on hours assigned.
  • Inspect and assure all program areas are ready for opening, are in order and the outside of the building is monitored for any risks, vandalism or areas that need attention.
  • Turn on or shut down building systems, reporting any system issues immediately to Facility Manager or Branch Director of Operations.
  • Walk through all locker rooms and bathrooms to ensure they are prepared for day, are in operating order and are empty when closing building.
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of alarm systems and emergency actions plans, and have the ability to executive plans.
  • Point Person for implementation of emergency evacuation plans.
  • Respond to accidents/incidents that require a leadership level of involvement (i.e. calls made to EMS or significant injury) and reported according to procedure.
  • Communicate all emergency situations to Director of Operations.
  • Interface with member and guests to assist desk or supervisors in articulating policy and procedures when needed.
