About The Position

Under the general direction and supervision of the GM of Facilities& Operations, the MOD is responsible for supervising all patrons using the Recreation Center for programs, open gym, playground rentals, etc., occurring during their shift; this includes supervising and assisting Recreation Center part-time staff, greeting & assisting renters/patrons, checking in patrons at the desk and taking registrations as needed, assuring proper setups for programs & rentals, resolving problems, keeping all facility programs & rentals on track, and custodial duties as needed. The Manager on Duty position requires nights and weekend availability. The Manager on Duty position is a non-exempt position. Employees serving in the Manager on Duty position are employed “at-will” meaning that they can terminate their employment at any time and for any reason and likewise, the Park District can terminate their employment at any time and for any reason.

Requirements

  • Have a basic knowledge of Park District policies concerning customer service, custodial duties, facilities, programs, rentals, and behavioral policies.

  • Experience working in the recreation or hospitality industry and/or in customer service is required.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patrons & renters in a friendly and welcoming manner and direct to where they need to go when needed. Introduce yourself and speak with them about their needs. Assist them with anything they might need help with.
  • Be familiar and aware of the day/night’s schedule for the Recreation Center.
  • Make sure event signage is in place and rooms are set up according to maintenance specific needs. The front desk will make up the signs on the boards.
  • Bring wristbands and surveys to renters if they have not been picked up at the front desk at sign in. Instruct the renter to put wristbands on all the children.
  • Lock and unlock rooms for programs & renters (doors must be locked in between programs & parties).
  • Act as the primary contact for building when no full-time staff if present
  • Check on renters intermittently, seeing if they have any needs. Each renter should be checked every half hour.
  • Resolve any problems associated with programs/rentals/events taking place inside facility (including fitness center)
  • Assist the front desk with rentals by showing rooms to prospective renters without disturbing ongoing parties.
  • Respond to staff requests, staying in good contact with them.
  • Track the time of all parties occurring during shift, making sure all renters are aware of their approaching end time. Give renters adequate reminders regarding their rental end time.
  • Providing end-of-shift reports, as necessary, to appropriate full-time staff
  • Be a liaison between the Facility and Rental Supervisor and renters.
  • Communicate with Facility and Rental Supervisor regarding rentals, setups, and special requests.
  • Carry a radio and be accessible to the front desk, maintenance, and renters.
  • Assist with equipment malfunctions.
  • Work with the maintenance department to set up and tear down rooms after a rental, program, or event. and/or cleaning rooms.
  • Supervise patrons using gym, track, and playground, enforcing all PDLG policies.
  • Check for wristbands in the playground and for open gym periodically during your shift.
  • Make sure all patrons at the Recreation Center are following PDLG policies.
  • Be aware of building and District emergency procedures along with ability to correctly fill out appropriate forms
