About The Position

The Manager of Salesforce & Product Owner is a central role in the delivery of products for Excellus. This position works with stakeholders throughout the organization to define and prioritize features, while working with architects and their teams to ensure each feature is successfully delivered to a measurable standard. This position serves as the primary interface between the business, their development teams, and Salesforce with the emphasis on representing our customers to the teams. The individual will help shape and execute the product strategy that meets the department goals, engage in business case development, and ensure adherence to the Agile Scrum process. This position manages and develops Salesforce administration / programming staff and directs the accurate, effective, and efficient configuration, programming, support, and maintenance of assigned components of the company’s core and integrated business applications. The role involves defining and communicating the overall vision, objectives, and goals of the business, managing the roadmap and releases, defining scope through backlog prioritization, and proactively managing changes and risks. It also includes leading the Salesforce product Road Map, gaining insight into Salesforce capabilities, and keeping stakeholders informed throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience as a business analyst, Product Owner, Scrum Master or related field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related degree, or sixteen (16) years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Prior experience supervising or managing people and/or projects or indirectly leading teams.
  • Experience writing requirements or user stories that are clear, concise and well organized.
  • Strong communication skills: oral presentations, writing, negotiation, active listening, influence positive team dynamics.
  • Strong project management skills: business acumen, seen as the decision maker when interfacing with the business, and willingness to dissent with both teams and business.
  • Critical thinking and analytical approach to providing solutions.
  • Ability to align and motivate a team to achieve objectives.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Salesforce.
  • Prior health insurance experience or knowledge.
  • Experience in either a Scaled Agile environment or in a new Agile rollout.
  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, Automated Testing.
  • Certified Scrum Master, Certificated Scrum Product Owner, or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certifications.
  • Experience in the Health Plan or healthcare industry especially as it relates to overall health insurance value chain and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Define & communicate the overall vision, objectives, and goals of the business.
  • Manage the roadmap, and releases in collaboration with the business & IT stakeholders.
  • Define scope through prioritization and management of a product backlog.
  • Proactively manage changes in scope, identify potential risks, and work with management and development team(s) to create recovery plans.
  • Lead and manage of the Salesforce product Road Map and future product strategy.
  • Learn, develop and gain insight in all aspects of the Salesforce tool and its capabilities.
  • Regularly keep stakeholders up-to-date and informed throughout project or product life cycle.
  • Keep applicable documents and tracking systems updated with relevant information related to the project requirements, updates, and delivery status.
  • Break down high level pieces of work (Epics) into manageable pieces (Features).
  • Work with Business Stakeholders to identify the minimal viable product (MVP).
  • Work with the development team(s) to elaborate requirements including detailed user flow diagrams and test specifications.
  • Interface with other Team Product Owners to manage dependencies within integrated products.
  • Define and proactively monitor key performance metrics to communicate the status of backlog deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and redesign that will allow us to accomplish objectives more quickly and at a higher level of probability.
  • Support strategies and features for large scale projects, including migrations, integrations with other systems and automations.
  • Own the product backlog and lead grooming sessions as the subject matter expert (SME) and define feature products.
  • Plan and ensure that there is enough ready backlog to sustain a large Agile team for multiple two-week sprints.

  • Conduct periodic staff meetings to include timely distribution and education related to departmental and Ethics/Compliance information.
