About The Position

The Customer Focused Team Manager 2 is responsible for managing a Customer Focused team within a site, leading all indirect functions necessary to execute the customer's business. This role may include direct management of some manufacturing activities and is accountable for the execution of the customer's business within cost budgets while driving improvements in performance and cost reduction. The manager reports to a Director or General Manager and may have dotted line responsibility to a GCU GBOM. The position requires interaction with customers at an operating level and provides direct supervision to subordinate team leaders and professional employees, such as Program Managers. The role involves setting objectives, establishing policies, developing department budgets, and ensuring the execution of business activities involving multi-functional teams. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals can result in additional costs and serious delays. The manager is also responsible for building cross-functional relationships and maintaining positive relationships with key customers and suppliers.

Requirements

  • Eight plus years of experience in a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of the production process and tools and equipment used in the process.
  • In-depth knowledge of the business unit and its impact on customer satisfaction and financial performance.
  • Ability to coordinate resources to meet operational, supply chain, and financial targets.
  • Well-developed skills in defined competencies: Personal Attributes, Interpersonal, Business Technical, and Leadership Competencies.
  • Ability to influence colleagues and lead a diverse group of employees.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a Customer Focused team within a site.
  • Has overall business responsibility for the execution of the business of a customer or small group of customers.
  • Ensures the CFT generates value for the customer and seeks to develop customer loyalty.
  • Leads the creation and implementation of action plans to resolve customer issues.
  • Promotes continuous improvement in CFT activities using lean and 6S methodologies.
  • Plans, manages, and controls CFT performance by implementing overall direction and priorities.
  • Implements policies and guidelines and evaluates results.
  • Ensures availability of appropriate resources, tools, equipment, and support to meet customer requirements.
  • Monitors performance of business execution using MOR and other appropriate metrics.
  • Reports on performance to customer, site management, and GCU Leadership.
  • Responsible for financial performance of the business and manages financial metrics.
  • Recommends and manages the CFT budget and financial forecast.
  • Selects employees, assigns objectives, reviews performance, and makes recommendations on employee compensation.
  • Coaches for improved performance and approves disciplinary actions.
  • Participates in and may lead cross-functional process improvement groups.
  • Independently represents the company to customers at the working level.
