About The Position

The Manager, People Operations serves as the operational backbone of Compass’s People Operations function, owning core HR operations and employee relations for corporate employees while building scalable infrastructure to support growth to 700 employees. This role is critical to the successful execution of the January 2027 PEO exit, ensuring a seamless transition of 600+ center employees to internal HR operations. The Manager enables operational excellence, compliance, and strong employee experience in a highly regulated healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5–7+ years of progressive HR experience with demonstrated expertise in both HR operations and employee relations
  • Strong experience managing benefits administration, leave programs (FMLA, disability, workers’ comp), and compliance processes
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS systems, reporting, and data management
  • Working knowledge of employment laws, including wage and hour, ADA, FMLA, and state regulations
  • Proven ability to manage investigations, coach managers, and handle sensitive employee matters professionally
  • Experience supporting multi-site or multi-state organizations
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to execute complex initiatives independently
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and comfort working with HR data
  • Demonstrated ability to build scalable processes in fast-growing environments
  • High level of ownership, discretion, and attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end HR operations, including benefits administration, 401k management, leave administration, onboarding/offboarding, and HRIS management
  • Lead all employee relations case management for corporate employees, including investigations, documentation, progressive discipline, and terminations
  • Execute key workstreams related to the PEO exit, including HRIS data validation, benefits transitions, and employee communications
  • Build, implement, and maintain scalable HR policies and procedures aligned with regulatory requirements
  • Establish consistent onboarding and offboarding processes across all field locations
  • Serve as primary HRIS administrator and implementation partner, ensuring data integrity, reporting, and user training
  • Manage vendor relationships related to benefits, HRIS, and compliance services
  • Partner cross-functionally with Payroll, Finance, Legal, IT, and Operations to support HR initiatives
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations
  • Develop SOPs, templates, and workflows to support scalable People Operations
