We are looking for a Manager of Engineering and Maintenance to join our team! The foundry Manager of Engineering and Maintenance as a member of the management team is responsible for leading the Engineering and Maintenance departments. Will lead engineering with direct engineering team reports and will lead maintenance with a Maintenance Manager direct report. Key task is to instill best practices in both engineering and maintenance as it pertains to the foundry operations. Leads engineering team through projects installations as well as works with outside engineering and construction firms for execution of plant upgrades and projects. Ensures equipment is maintained for optimum production and troubleshoots and directs repairs when necessary. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems is fundamental to this role. Must have a strong understanding of how all production processes are related and anticipate problems before they arise through implementation of best practices. The individual will plan and coordinate activities concerning the design, construction, modification, and maintenance of equipment and machinery using good communication and project management. Works at all levels of the operation, factory floor to executive management.

  • Responsible for installation of new plant process equipment and upgrading of existing plant process equipment, which includes plant operational electrical and mechanical systems and the various components of those systems.
  • Troubleshoots and directs repairs of the mechanical/electrical systems to achieve maximum plant uptime.
  • Interfaces with plant operations management to ensure that project deadlines and production goals are successfully completed.
  • Implements plant technical strategies and tactics focused on engineering projects, maintenance and plant improvement programs that advance Plant performance.
  • Works with maintenance to schedule maintenance tasks to provide maximum uptime on all production related equipment.
  • Prepares capital improvement plans.
  • Evaluates and suggests items to inventory (repair parts/spares) for critical plant equipment to prevent excessive downtime.
  • Designs and implements preventive maintenance programs.
  • Ensures that all direct reports effectively perform their respective job functions with a focus on workplace safety, quality, cost efficiency, and productivity.
  • Ensures proper departmental training so that assigned personnel will perform to established quality standards.
  • Participates with other managers in long-range planning and overall management of the plant, including product quality, workplace safety and human resource issues.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university Engineering (EE) or (ME) preferred or similar engineering field
  • five to eight years engineering and maintenance related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preventative Maintenance experience required.
  • Strong computer application/systems skills required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of database software, manufacturing software and word processing software.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand; walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and ability to differentiate colors.

  • Preferred candidate would also have foundry experience with gray and ductile iron.
