About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Director of the Clinical Laboratory, the manager is responsible for the daily operations of the Laboratory Department and/or assigned functional area(s). The position shall exemplify the desired Culture of Choice® and philosophies of Parrish Healthcare.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required in Medical Technology or related field.
Minimum of three years laboratory supervisory experience required
Florida Supervisors License required.

Responsibilities

Ensures strategic goals and objectives are met or exceeded by providing the management and oversight necessary to ensure areas of responsibility have the proper resources, metrics and talent in place to effectively achieve Game Plan goals and to extend the reach of our mission and vision.
Facilitates staff analysis and improvement plans for the department employee engagement; accountable for applying evidence-based employee rounding tools and techniques; uses problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with care team members; mentors Leads and aspiring staff; and spearheads effective employee engagement initiatives.
Manages the daily workflow, staffing, orientation, training and developing of employees, position requests, interviews, selection, training, cross-training, license verification, etc. within the department.
Responsible for the ongoing quality/performance improvement activities within the department. Leads and participates in intra and interdepartmental quality improvement process.
Manages and maintains the departmental dashboard that includes information and progress on each strategic pillar (People, Service, Quality, Growth, Finances); analyses the department’s performance and takes immediate and effective steps to assure national benchmarks are met/exceeded.
Completes annual performance appraisals for employees and implements performance improvement plans or corrective actions when needed.
Resolves day-to-day operational problems beyond the scope of supervisors and Section Chiefs to assure optimal patient care. Responsible for investigating patient, physician and staff complaints and concerns and works to resolve them. Communicates actions as needed with the Director of Laboratory Services.
Manages the manner in which the laboratory department supports daily patient experience expectations and meeting or exceeding national benchmarks as defined by the hospital’s Game Plan, including but not limited laboratory care partners always communicates with patients, families and peers with respect and courtesy; always introduces themselves, their role and explains plan of care in manner that is understood by the patient/family, etc.
Develops and administers a budget; recommends new programs and equipment, leads productive, cost efficient and effective operations, creates plan of correction for any operating expenses that deviate from budget.
Maintains required competencies for self and all employees within the department.
Pursue professional growth and participates in a professional organization.
Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as pertains to the work area.
