About The Position

The Inpatient Services Manager for Attendants will work on the floor training the Inpatient attendants and administrative assistants as well as provide leadership, mentorship and management for the Inpatient attendants and assistants. The Inpatient Service Manager will also provide oversight on the inpatient volunteers.

Requirements

  • We are looking for applicants with at least five years of experience working in a supervisory position.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that attendant and administrative assistant job descriptions are reviewed and updated as necessary on a yearly basis along with a task progression chart.
  • Ensure that all attendants are familiar with their job description and understand job responsibilities for each attendant level.
  • Ensure that all administrative assistants are familiar with their job description and understand job responsibilities.
  • Work closely with the inpatient trainers and hospital managers to identify when an attendant is ready to advance to training for an assistant level position within the hospital.
  • Mentor each attendant and administrative assistant and help them to identify next career steps within the hospital so they remain motivated and engaged in the work of the organization after they have mastered the attendant role.
  • Provide oversight and direction to Inpatient Service attendant team members.
  • Maintain high visibility and availability; able to redirect workflow to keep department functioning efficiently.
  • Demonstrate fairness and consistency when performing supervisory responsibilities.
  • Provide oversight to the inpatient administrative assistants to ensure all patient charges are accurate and timely.
  • Ensure that the daily census is completed and checked against the Signature visit list so that the visit list accurately reflects the inpatients and their cage assignments.
  • Train, schedule and assign volunteers for the inpatient service (e.g. Laundry, cage cleaning, walking patients etc.)
  • Monitor service daily to maximize efficiency of the attendants and the technicians they support and to improve processes and redirect assistance to other areas as needed.
  • Interact with veterinary staff, hospital staff, support staff, volunteers and clients relative to inpatient aspects of veterinary service.
  • Demonstrate and model a high level of customer service: respond to client questions, complaints and compliments with a non-judgmental and compassionate attitude.
  • Ensure that staff is respectful of clients and their pets.
  • Proactively address veterinarian/staff issues and concerns.
  • Follow department guidelines for assessing and managing simple and complex problems and/or complaints.
  • Model appropriate conduct, behavior and direction to staff members, developing their ability to recognize and handle veterinarian/staff concerns appropriately.
  • Work collaboratively with other hospital departments and the veterinary staff ensuring that hospital policies and procedures are followed.
  • Recruitment and retention of Inpatient attendant team members, performance management, staff scheduling, payroll, and employee relations.
  • Work collaboratively with HR Generalist to manage employees and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Familiar with and regularly reference the MSPCA
