Mission Statement: The Manager of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) for North America drives HSE excellence by aligning strategy, people, execution, and culture. The role ensures regulatory compliance, reduces operational risk, develops strong HSE leadership at all levels, and embeds safety and environmental responsibility as core values that support long-term, sustainable growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related technical discipline required or combination of relevant experience and certifications.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental leadership within industrial, manufacturing, energy, marine, or service-based operations.
  • Proven experience leading HSE strategy and governance across multi-site, multi-country operations, preferably within the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing and sustaining integrated management systems (e.g., AIMS or equivalent), including ISO certification and audit leadership.
  • Strong working knowledge of North American HSE regulatory frameworks, including OSHA, EPA, and Canadian and Mexican federal and provincial requirements.
  • Track record of transforming safety culture from compliance-focused to proactive and values-driven through leadership engagement and accountability.
  • Experience partnering with senior leaders and operations teams to embed HSE into business strategy, growth initiatives, and day-to-day execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and influence diverse teams across geographies and cultures

Nice To Haves

  • Professional HSE certifications strongly preferred (e.g., CSP, CIH, NEBOSH, CRSP, or equivalent).
  • Formal training or certification in ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 management systems preferred.
  • bilingual Spanish is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • HSE Strategy & Governance Define, lead, and continuously improve Accelleron’s HSE strategy for North America in alignment with global standards, Accelleron's Integrated Management System (AIMS), and business objectives. Translate global HSE policies and frameworks into effective regional execution across the United States, Canada, and Mexico that meets the local requirement. Serve as the regional HSE authority, advising and guiding senior leadership on risk, compliance, and strategic HSE priorities.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management Ensure full compliance with applicable HSE regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and federal, state, provincial, and local requirements across North America. Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate HSE risks across workshops, field service, logistics, and office environments. Lead investigations of serious incidents, near misses, and high-potential events, ensuring effective root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • AIMS & Management Systems Lead the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Accelleron’s Integrated Management System (AIMS). Ensure effective deployment of ISO 45001, and ISO 9001 requirements within the region. Oversee internal audits, management reviews, and external certifications, ensuring sustainable compliance and readiness.
  • Safety Leadership & Culture Champion a proactive safety culture where leadership accountability, employee engagement, and “Stop Work” authority are actively practiced. Coach and challenge leaders at all levels to visibly demonstrate safety leadership and ownership. Drive behavioral-based safety initiatives and employee participation programs to strengthen risk awareness and prevention.
  • Operational Support & Performance Partner with Operations, Service, and Supply Chain teams to embed HSE into daily execution, planning, and decision-making. Define and track key HSE KPIs, ensuring transparent reporting, trend analysis, and timely corrective actions. Support growth initiatives (e.g., new stations, expansions, customer projects) by ensuring HSE risks are identified and managed upfront.
  • Environmental & Sustainability Leadership Lead environmental compliance and performance, including waste management, emissions, energy use, and environmental risk mitigation. Support Accelleron’s sustainability objectives by integrating environmental stewardship into operational practices and improvement initiatives. Ensure environmental incidents are managed, reported, and prevented through robust controls and continuous improvement.
  • Capability Building & Team Development Build, lead, and develop a strong regional HSE organization, ensuring clarity of roles, accountability, and succession planning. Develop HSE competence across the organization through training, coaching, and targeted development programs. Foster collaboration between regional and global HSE teams to share best practices and drive consistency.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication Act as the primary HSE interface with internal stakeholders, regulators, auditors, and customers when required. Provide clear, data-driven HSE insights to leadership, enabling informed decisions and prioritization. Promote transparent communication on HSE performance, risks, and improvements across the region.
