About The Position

Responsible for overall leadership and management of the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) department and associated activities related to EHS execution in the company. Work with teams to ensure compliance with federal, state, and corporate environmental, health and safety regulations. Develop, implement, and modify compliance tracking processes as necessary to manage the EHS processes. Ensure accurate and ethical OSHA record keeping and external reporting. Develop, implement, and ensure effective environmental policies and practices.

Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety or EHS related field
  • 15 years of safety related experience
  • Five years in an executive leadership position
  • CSP Certification
  • Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Zero Injury principles
  • Read, analyze, and interpret EHS related periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations
  • Write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from of managers, clients, customers, and the public
  • Strong ability to think strategically
  • Analytical skills and a data-driven mindset
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to lead and influence others

Responsibilities

  • Integrate and collaborate with leadership to ensure buy-in and follow through of EHS systems and processes
  • Assist in formulating Mastec Clean Energy’s future direction and supporting tactical initiatives
  • Actively participate in the implementation of strategic business plans
  • Manage department budget
  • Develop performance measures that support Mastec Clean Energy’s strategic direction
  • Manage a team of EHS professionals and oversee the operations of the department
  • Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team
  • Manage any third parties to which functions have been outsourced
  • Implement operational best practices, controls, systems, etc.
  • Provide reporting as deemed necessary
  • Develop, implement, update, and maintain company ES&H Policies/Procedures
  • Provide guidance associated with the injury management processes in the company
  • Ensure the management of the Drug & Alcohol program for the organization
  • Oversees corporate safety database (Donesafe) as appropriate
  • Oversee and manage the R4 and other critical EHS related processes
  • Oversee subcontractor pre-qualifications for EHS group
  • Provide corporate safety committee guidance as requested or appropriate
  • Represent company in site audits, investigations, and celebrations
  • Ensure effective EHS training/testing programs
  • Represent the company externally in various EHS groups as appropriate
  • Ensure maintenance of the various pre-qual safety electronic databases such as ISNetworld, VeriForce & PICS for safety and OQ input
  • Chair Executive incident reviews
  • Monitor all open legal issues involving EHS related matters and monitor legal issues affecting the industry
