Job Summary Reporting to the Director of Development, the Manager of Development Operations and Events is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Development Department with a focus on facilitating team support and accountability to meet fundraising goals. The manager works closely with the director on all annual events and is the lead for two key annual events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-3 years of experience in a professional development or fundraising environment.
  • Demonstratable experience with database administration, including processing data, report writing, editing and manipulation of data is required.
  • Experience with fundraising databases (Donor Perfect or others) preferred.
  • Highly developed organizational and analytical skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within an organization, emphasizing teamwork, respect, and excellence.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a reliable and upbeat colleague in collaborative efforts to achieve the agency’s annual goals and objectives.

  • Reports to the Director of Development; supports the CAO and development department staff; and collaborates with the Marketing Manager to accomplish development goals and activities.
  • Oversees and implements data management best practices.
  • The Manager keeps up to date on market trends and will proactively work on pipeline development focusing on midlevel donors with the objective of increased giving levels.
  • Works closely with accounting to reconcile accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Provides advice, recommendations, and training related to the functional area of the team.
  • Manages diverse tasks, analyze situations, evaluate alternatives, project outcomes, and implement solutions to improve effectiveness.
  • Coordinates all data-related needs of a professionally run, fast-paced, high-performing development office.
  • Manages all gift processing, including data entry, coding, timely and accurate gift acknowledgments and reporting for the Development department, and reconciliation with the Finance team.
  • Manages the donor database (currently DonorPerfect), ensuring data is accurate and the system is optimized for the development department’s needs.
  • Assist with agency events (virtual and in-person) from small stewardship events to large fundraisers and manages FamilyAid Boston Marathon team.
  • Responsible for the drafting the letter of intent and application for the Boston Marathon annual charity bibs;
  • Recruits and vets runners and assembles the team.
  • Supports and ushers runners through the process of claiming their bib, fundraising and ultimately their marathon run.
  • Creates direct mail and email lists and work as the point person with the printer/mail house for all direct mail campaigns (currently five per year)
  • Works with the Manager of Volunteer Operations to help coordinate and staff a limited number of volunteer service projects and assist with in-kind donations.
  • Maintain development calendar, ensuring it is coordinated with the Development team and President’s office.
  • Creates, analyzes, and disseminates standing reports to track fundraising revenue.
  • Creates mid-year and year-end reports on giving and other reports as assigned.
  • Produces acknowledgment letters for all gifts, managing the overall process including printing and delivering letters to the FamilyAid office for the President on a weekly basis (or more frequently when necessary).
  • Undertakes other duties/or assignments as assigned by Director of Development, Chief Advancement Officer or President.
