About The Position

Stearns Bank is seeking an experienced leader to serve as Manager of the Deposit and Treasury Management Consultant (DTC) Team. This role is critical in leading the Deposit and Treasury Management Consultants to generate new and deepen existing depository and treasury management relationships within our national divisions. The DTC Manager should work with the DTC team to develop and implement strategies to help our clients optimize their financial resources, particularly focusing on cash flow, liquidity management, payment processing and risk mitigation. The DTC Manager partners closely with leadership and ensures the alignment of the DTC team with our national divisions including the Salaam Banking Division, Non-Profits and Community Development, SBA, Affordable Housing, Sustainable Energy, Equipment Finance Division and Cannabis. This is a Player/Coach position. In addition to leading the DTC team toward their Deposit Production goals, the DTC Manager is responsible for independent prospecting and business development, leveraging our key differentiated solutions including Non-Profit, Salaam Banking, Custodial Accounts, and Smart Ledger, and directly managing and deepening relationships with our top tier clients and prospects. As such, this role requires strategic thinking, strong interpersonal skills and financial acumen, and exceptional ability to build strong relationships.

Requirements

  • Hybrid Position 3+ days/week in Scottsdale, AZ Branch
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, technology or related field from four-year college or university; or 10+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; Masters preferred.
  • 8-10 years of experience in banking, financial services, community development or public-private partnerships, with a proven track record of execution.
  • Previous experience in developing business relationships with companies ranging from $1MM - $1B in annual revenues.
  • Advanced level of knowledge in general banking operations, deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and support.
  • Advanced level of knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Hire and develop talent to build an effective sales and relationship management team focused on ‘business unusual’ customer experience and culture.
  • Define and implement goals for the DTC team.
  • Ensure accountability and tracking of team members to meet their individual goals and expectations.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to team members to elevate knowledge, expertise and sales acumen.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including Compliance, Legal, and Operations to ensure optimal efficiency and appropriate risk management.
  • Provide training and expertise on Deposit and Treasury Management products.
  • Drive sales initiatives and strategies to promote outreach and deposit growth.
  • Coordinate with Marketing and Community Development teams to define and execute campaigns and guide prospecting efforts.
  • Help to identify strategies and solutions to differentiate Stearns Bank with Non-Profits, Small Businesses, Affordable Housing, Sustainable Energy, Cannabis and other industry groups.
  • Collaborate with the Salaam Banking team to enhance and scale culturally relevant and Sharia-compliant financial services.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert among peers related to Deposit and Treasury Management products and market knowledge.
  • Define and develop sales reporting and tracking through Salesforce and other core systems.
  • Generate deposits and fee income through direct prospecting and relationship building.
  • Define and execute strategic business development plans to expand customer base.
  • Maintain a strong community presence, build referral networks, and develop and cultivate COI relationships.
  • Engage with Non-Profit and other industry organizations to build partnerships through demonstrated expertise and support.
  • Support individual portfolio of top-tier, complex customers.
  • Maintain current and competitive knowledge of Deposit and Treasury Management products and solutions, industry trends and the competitive environment.
  • Provide consultative expertise and training to customers, industry groups and internal partners on liquidity management cycle and solutions.
  • Focus on retention strategies including understanding competitive market dynamics, pricing, and ongoing customer communication.
