Manager of Continuation Engineering
About The Position
The Manager of Continuation Engineering leads all engineering activities required to support, sustain, and improve released products throughout their lifecycle, including legacy products still being serviced in the field. This role ensures technical continuity, product performance, regulatory compliance, cost optimization, and long-term product viability. This leader partners cross-functionally with Design Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, Field Service, and Product Management to manage engineering changes, mitigate obsolescence, improve serviceability, and enhance overall product performance and customer experience. Another area of focus of this role is enabling Field Service through engineering-driven improvements to tools, equipment, and product enhancements that increase technician efficiency and elevate the customer experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline.
- 8+ years of engineering experience in new product design / development, sustaining, continuation, lifecycle, or product support engineering.
- 3+ years of team management or leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of product lifecycle management and engineering change processes (ECO/ECR).
- Experience driving reliability improvements and field issue resolution.
- Demonstrated success leading cost-reduction and product improvement initiatives.
- Experience supporting Field Service or customer-facing technical teams preferred.
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in Engineering or MBA.
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt).
- Experience in regulated industries (e.g., aerospace, medical devices).
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and configuration control practices.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
