About The Position

The Manager of Alumni and Career Services provides support in serving the students and alumni of Mercy College of Ohio. The position collaborates with the Divisions of Student Affairs and Academic Affairs in the delivery of comprehensive services, information resources, and programming that enable students to take active responsibility for their career decision-making process and to facilitate graduate employment with BSMH. This position is responsible for organizing and coordinating alumni programs and services designed to foster and strengthen the relationship between the alumni and Mercy College, including collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to create and maintain pathways for alumni participation and advancing the goals of the college.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree (required)
  • 1+ years current higher education experience in, or related to, career services, including direct career counseling to students (or similar constituents), academic advising, healthcare talent acquisition or alumni services.
  • Strong commitment to and demonstrated skills for working with a diverse student population and offering diverse and inclusive campus activities
  • Ability to critically think, problem-solve, manage conflict, operate within deadlines.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply student development /adult learning theory
  • Ability to work autonomously following training.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to support and motivate students
  • Ability to organize multiple activities simultaneously and respond to inquiries promptly
  • Ability to work with student/alumni related technology

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement co-curricular programming related to career preparation that is rooted in adult learning principles, strategically aligned with the student lifecycle, and designed to equip students with necessary job search skills and employment preparation strategies.
  • Create and update career resources on an on-going basis through collaboration with appropriate stakeholders to ensure all resources are current, accessible, and effective learning tools to support the needs of the specific target cohort of health sciences students.
  • Deliver career services proactively and collaborate with academic program leaders to track individual student interactions, programming, and employment data to maintain dashboard metrics, pertinent information for accreditation reports, and continuous improvement.
  • Foster relationships within the College and BSMH Talent Acquisition, and champion BSMH as a first-choice employer with its culture, values, and benefits.
  • In collaboration with appropriate College stakeholders and BSMH Talent Acquisition, promote student engagement with college (program-level) and BSMH sponsored events, including but not limited to mock interviews, career fairs, and new graduate interview events.
  • Remain abreast of pertinent career information such as, employment and externship opportunities for full-time and/or part-time; assist in communicating these opportunities using multi-platform and multi-modal communications (i.e. individual and/or cohort emails, social media, in-class presentations, and collaborating with faculty).
  • Develop, deliver, and coordinate alumni initiatives and services that will engage alumni and strengthen the overall relationship with their institution.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough alumni records in collaboration with key departmental stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement strategies that regularly capture contact, biographical, and career information for alumni, including surveys, events, and other formats as needed.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders (i.e. faculty, Talent Acquisition, Alumni Relations) to plan and implement programming that supports student and alumni connection and enhances the early engagement of recent graduates.
  • Coordinate the engagement of alumni in institutional initiatives in collaboration with key stakeholders including Enrollment, Career Services, academic programs, and the Foundation.
