The Post Anesthesia Care Units at MGH are comprised of 7 individual critical care areas dedicated to the care of adult and pediatric patients preceding and immediately following surgery and/or procedures requiring anesthesia. The unit operates 24 hours per day with Anesthesia and Nurse Practitioner medical coverage. This is a full-time evening position. Shift will be either be 11 AM to 9 PM or 10 AM to 8:30 PM. Summary Directs, plans and coordinates the service activities and staffing performance of professional nursing and auxiliary nursing personnel in rendering quality patient care. May provide direct patient care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing required or Master's Degree Nursing preferred
  • Registered Nurse RN - MA license required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support [ACLS Certification] preferred
  • Basic Life Support [BLS] Certificate preferred
  • Nursing experience 2-3 years required
  • Nursing leadership experience 1-2 years preferred
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commitment to clinical excellence.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the development, implementation, and evaluation of staff onboarding, training, and education.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback for staff.
  • Ensures a positive work environment that is safe for patients, visitors and staff.
  • Coordinating unit activities with other hospital departments of the hospital
  • Develops and implements staffing plans.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards
