Summary Oversees the daily operations of non-invasive cardiology department(s) and the clinical/non-clinical staff within those department(s). Develops and monitors work processes, policies, procedures, and protocols to optimize patient care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree Hospital, health, business, or public administration or a closely related field. or Technical School Diploma Formal education program within non-invasive cardiology (course completion in management/leadership).
  • 5 years Technical experience in healthcare field.
  • Knowledge of hospital and outpatient operations within Cardiology.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Management skills and knowledge of leadership concepts.
  • RDCS-Reg Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer ARDMS - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire or RN - Licensed Registered Nurse_PA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, and coordinates patient care in the department.
  • Audits and controls work processes of the department/staff.
  • Monitors PI activity including the performance and participation of the team in PI activities.
  • Renders timely and accurate reports.
  • Establishes quality control systems, evaluates quality control data, institutes corrective action as needed, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Assists in the development of departmental operating and capital budgets.
  • Manages department(s) within constraints of the budgets.
  • Provides recommendations to Director for equipment/system budget planning.
  • Ensures completion of staff schedules.
  • Directs and/or alters assignments in response to change in need and staff availability.
  • Develops, supports, and continually evaluates the professional environment to ensure employee retention and promote a high-performance team.
  • Assesses staff performance, provides positive, educational feedback, initiates, reward and disciplinary action as necessary.
  • Monitors department customer satisfaction and makes appropriate adjustments to ensure high quality care.
  • Ensures equipment is maintained.
  • Follows-up on equipment failure with clinical engineering or vendor as necessary.
  • Oversees new equipment/system roll-outs and system upgrades.
  • Conducts staff performance appraisals and reviews.
  • Acts as primary liaison with vendors, clinical engineering, IT, and other hospital departments to assure appropriate support and corrective measures are identified and completed in a timely manner.
