About The Position

Manager of Mechanical Engineering (attractions) at the Disneyland Resort. Lead a group of 4-8 highly trained and motivated engineers in the development and execution of project-based work for a variety of clients including Project Management, WDI and Worldwide Safety & Auditing. Must be a motivated individual willing to leverage strong partnering and mentoring skills while leading this group into a large period of growth and development at the Disneyland Resort. This position will report to the Senior Manager-Mechanical Engineering

Requirements

  • 8+ years Mechanical Engineering experience in design, analysis, fabrication, and testing.
  • Leadership experience of technical groups.
  • Proven record of strong leadership and administrative planning skills.
  • Proven record of strategic and tactical thought process with strong coaching abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner and collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ASTM F24 codes, and California Title 8, Chapter 4, Subchapter 6.2 regulations.
  • Bachelor of Science from an ABET accredited engineering program in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Hold current P.E. License in State of California or others where CA recognizes reciprocity.
  • Advanced degree in Engineering or Management.
  • Experience in ride vehicles and/or ride design.
  • Knowledge of ride systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of mechanical engineers responsible for developing technical designs that meet our client’s requirements of scope, quality, budget, and schedule augmented with excellent communication and partnership.
  • Build relationships with our GE&T clients; FAM, Engineering Services, Operations, Entertainment, Quality Control & Assurance, Legal, and WDI to ensure work is performed and prioritized correctly.
  • Partner with peer managers within the GE&T segment to develop strong relationships and leverage resources to drive consistency and optimization of workload.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning by mentoring engineers on technical development, training, and career progression.
  • Provide resource loading, budget development, and management of the department.
  • Establish regular reporting to monitor progress of workload, resources, and budgets.
  • Accountable for Castmember performance management process and career development.
  • Review projects scope of work, estimates, and ensure compliance with requirements and applicable standards.
  • Review and issue team’s annual 6.2 internal compliance letters.
  • Adapt to organizational and technical changes, leading the team through transitions and challenges.
  • Oversee multiple projects and priorities aligned with business goals, leading cross‑functional initiatives while guiding the team in effectively using and continuously improving tools and processes.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and constructive feedback.
  • Represent the organization externally, building industry connections and fostering strategic partnerships.
  • Develop and oversee domestic and international partnerships within Disney, ensuring collaboration across domestic and global teams.
