Job Summary Responsible for procurement of products and services related to assigned portfolio. Manages and directs buyers assigned to specific area of responsibility, i.e. Surgical Services, Diagnostic Services, Support Services or Miscellaneous. Interfaces with Materials Management personnel to enhance level of service and improve Purchasing/Materials Management processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • At least five (5) years Materials Management experience in a hospital or healthcare setting
  • At least one (1) year supervisory experience
  • Effective oral and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Supply Chain warehouse experience highly preferred
  • Prefer candidates with a minimum of a bachelor's degree (management, business, etc.)
  • Strong Excel experience (Pivot Tables, V-Lookup)

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and monitors inventory levels of supplies and equipment.
  • Manages Materials Management department personnel: conducting performance evaluations, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and terminating as necessary.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of the department.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staffs and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermann’s service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
