About The Position

This role leads the process engineering discipline, providing technical guidance, driving process performance, and aligning engineering capabilities with broader operational and margin-improvement goals. You will oversee engineering activities that support safe, reliable, and economically optimized operations while collaborating across technical, planning, and operations teams to influence long-term strategic decisions.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • 7 or more years of engineering experience with expertise in process engineering
  • 3 or more years of experience leading engineering teams or complex technical functions
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to comply with the following:
  • Travel up to 5%
  • Operate company vehicle on site premises and/or public roads up to 5%
  • Work extended hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, and perform occasional on-call duties
  • Transport articles up to 50 pounds
  • Climb ladders and stairs up to 200 feet
  • Work safely near large, hot, high-speed machines, around chemicals and hydrocarbons under high pressure and heat, and in harsh weather conditions
  • Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment
  • Maintain face daily for proper respirator/face mask seal (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field
  • Experience optimizing refinery or manufacturing processes, including troubleshooting and performance analysis
  • Intermediate or higher proficiency with engineering and process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, Petro-SIM)

Nice To Haves

  • 10 or more years of engineering experience with expertise in process engineering
  • Experience developing quantitative and qualitative business strategies
  • Familiarity with Linear Programming, SEEQ, and advanced analytical tools
  • Six Sigma, Lean, or similar process improvement certifications
  • Strong communication, leadership, and presentation capabilities
  • Advanced ability in engineering standards development, process optimization, and technical troubleshooting
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and communicate the Margin Vision Roadmap for key refinery areas, aligning with RLT, Business Councils, and Engineering Leads and providing quarterly updates on progress and value.
  • Oversee process design, troubleshooting, and performance evaluations to optimize asset reliability, energy usage, and cost competitiveness.
  • Collaborate across refinery, business, and planning teams to identify margin improvement opportunities and support long-term planning initiatives.
  • Analyze refinery performance, evaluate key performance indicators, and drive implementation of process and operational improvements.
  • Manage a portfolio of engineering projects, ensuring timely execution, proper resource allocation, and adherence to engineering standards.
  • Provide expert technical guidance on complex issues, including major turnarounds, shutdown/startup activities, and maintenance project specifications.
  • Develop and support engineering standards, coach team members, and build organizational capability through training and performance management.
  • Foster collaboration, clear communication, and alignment across diverse technical and operational groups.
