Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager 2 to lead a manufacturing engineering team across multiple buildings at our Clearfield site. The ALPS Engineering Manager is responsible for the creation and execution of Affordability and Scaling projects. The classified program that this position supports requires both improvements to production execution cost as well as an increase in rate that requires significant growth and expansion. The ideal candidate for this position will have extensive knowledge in creating project proposals, acquiring project funding from boards, executing projects on time and cost, and logging successful projects to Risks and Opportunity systems. The ideal candidate will have exposure and experience with facility expansion and new facility creation in areas such as Rate Tool Analysis, facility layouts, facility requirements, tool orders, and CAPEX requests.

  • Lead a team of approximately 7-12 engineers
  • Ensure hiring plans, staff development, and workload plans are aligned to overall capability and capacity strategy.
  • Manage team budgets, schedules, and resources to effectively meet business goals
  • Set and promote high standards for safety and quality.
  • Maintain selected engineering processes and drive technical excellence by ensuring team output meets technical standards
  • Create new Affordability projects with innovative solutions, acquire board approval and funding, and execute on cost/schedule of all projects
  • Interface with multi-function teams and leadership for scaling and expansion execution, acting as the technical and leadership focal for the Manufacturing Engineering department
  • Creation and defense of Manufacturing Engineering BOES for new program proposals
  • Site representative for the BTU (Build Teams Unite) for cross-partner initiatives and idea sharing; also including Producibility Councils
  • Creation and management of Manufacturing Engineering performance metrics including but not limited to PDY/MRB, PRD, Planning, Top Drivers, TLUT, RCI performance.
  • Communicate, brief and present deliverables at program technical reviews, proposal reviews, or other technical meetings
  • Act as a technical interface to external customers, and form working relationships with representatives of external technical organizations
  • Lead performance and compensation management activities for team members
  • Prepare, review, and approve cost estimates and written technical proposals.
  • Manage cost and schedule for independent research or process improvement projects assigned to your team
  • Advise stakeholders and team members on how to meet established schedules or resolve technical issues
  • Ensure team members are familiar with and use required engineering processes, procedures, and tools
  • Provide results that are innovative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of manufacturing engineering or related experience; OR a master’s degree and 3 years of manufacturing engineering or related experience
  • 2 years of experience in leading direct reports or managing projects
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance and a special access program (SAP) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the needs of the business
  • Experience with assembly and composite manufacturing processes
  • Understanding of MRB and root cause analysis and corrective action
  • Ability to work on the manufacturing floor
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Active special access program (SAP)
  • Bachelor's Degree in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) discipline
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Prior experience operating in a dynamic environment of increasing production schedules and high delivery rates
  • Siemens NX, CPLM, SAP, and MES experience
  • Lean Manufacturing experience
