About The Position

Oversee department activities to ensure manufacturing operations are running smoothly as they relate to equipment reliability and preventative maintenance. This role has a strong impact to the performance of our daily operations, ultimately designed to meet productivity/customer expectations. Essence of role: Ensure all maintenance related functions; processing, packaging, and facilities are executed effectively for efficient plant operations and limited down time across all areas of manufacturing. TPM is our disciplined approach to establishing a continuous improvement culture to meet performance objectives. Direct reports: 5 – 7; number of indirect reports: 35-40

Requirements

  • Five – seven years of experience in a manager’s role leading maintenance teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial technology or engineering disciplines required (or 15 years equivalent experience)
  • Direct experience working for a CPG company, or in a high-volume packaged goods environment
  • Must have extensive experience in Root Cause Failure Analysis
  • Knowledge of utilities and facility equipment needed
  • Must be able to lead, motivate, and develop others – leading them through change and improvement targets
  • Must have knowledge of Food Defense criteria
  • Project management skills: able to prioritize many high-profile projects and effectively coordinate and direct across multiple priority tasks in a high stress environment (ultimately meeting customer needs)
  • Required: extensive knowledge of industrial mechanical, reliability/preventative maintenance, electrical,and PLC systems
  • Extensive knowledge of CMMS Systems, PM Optimization, and Predictive Maintenance Technologies
  • Strong working knowledge of CMMS systems, with the ability to mine and analyze data for trends/reports
  • Understand regulatory requirements for Food & Beverage Safety
  • Proficiencies in Microsoft Office, including Excel/Pivot Tables, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Project, and Power BI
  • Must have experience presenting cost drivers in maintenance within a manufacturing operation
  • Must be willing and able to frequently lift up to 50 lbs., with frequent lifting, bending, walking, and standing for long periods of time
  • Must be willing and able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment
  • Must be able to meet physical, environmental, and mental requirements outlined either with or without accommodation
  • Must comply with all Federal, State, Corporate, Warehouse and Food Safety standards, policies, and guidelines (i.e., HACCP, GMP, SQF, FDA, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Familiarity with CMNS (Hexagon) strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all maintenance operations and implement plans to reduce down time due to repairs; this means you will be responsible for reducing line shutdowns
  • Manage shutdowns and PMs closely – directing teams to minimize business impact
  • Manage and set budgets for processing, packaging, facilities, parts (storeroom), utilities (tbd), repairs, preventative, security, house keeping/sanitation, etc.
  • Provide regular updates, including schedules and budgets, to stakeholders; escalate issues with recommended solutions to executive leaders
  • Monitor plant/equipment trends to ensure highest possible operation and reduction of planned/unplanned downtime
  • Propose and monitor key performance indicators in accordance with the best practices
  • Facilitate the evolution/refinement of maintenance activities to minimize planned and unplanned downtime (PM’s, changeovers, etc.)
  • Maintain processing, packaging equipment, and facility systems, decreasing unplanned downtime and growing reliability and availability
  • Lead loss elimination, risk management, and life cycle asset management principles to sustain proactive and planned maintenance programs across all departments in manufacturing (roasting, blending, grinding, production, etc.)
  • Ensure supervisors and technicians document and input necessary data for the evaluation of trends, such as equipment history and efficiencies; this includes ensuring root cause is effectively conducted and accurate records are kept for further analysis
  • Conduct gap assessments for all repairs/modifications and ensure team members are working on the right projects based on capability and skillset, ensuring alignment and coverage across shifts
  • Provide coaching and mentorship, as well as help develop skills for team members; be a change agent leader to the team, bringing best practices to make improvements
  • Evaluate the performance of team members and provide consistent feedback to ensure development; establish goals, priorities and expectations to meet goals
  • Drive innovation through the development of best practices and the identification of industry trends and tools that would contribute to strategic goals
  • Manage special projects, including CapEx initiatives as needed
  • Manage service contracts, HVAC, powered lifts, EHS partnerships/fire, safety
  • Compile reports for ops, payrolls, and other day/day as needed
