About The Position

MyEyeDr is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to lead core accounting operations in a high-volume, multi-location retail organization. This role primarily oversees Long-Term Assets and Lease accounting, manages the month‑end close process, reviews journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, and prepares key schedules and selections for external audits. The Manager develops and coaches accounting team members, drives process and system improvements, and partners cross‑functionally to support operational and financial objectives. Reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate Accounting & Indirect Tax, this is a hybrid position with a minimum of two onsite days per week at our Vienna, VA or Raleigh, NC office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Accounting required; MBA a plus.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience required, with 3+ years of Big 4 public and progressive accounting leadership/manager experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and complex formulas.
  • Demonstrated ability to streamline, automate, and improve accounting processes to enhance efficiency and support operational growth.
  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing accounting teams in a high volume, multi location organization, fostering consistency, accuracy, scalable processes and collaboration across diverse groups.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP with the ability to apply accounting guidance to operational scenarios and complex transactions.
  • Highly organized and results driven, with the ability to prioritize deliverables, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast paced environment.
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving abilities, with a track record of identifying trends, exceptions, and process inefficiencies to drive continuous improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and translate financial information for non financial audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to streamline, automate, and improve accounting processes to enhance efficiency and support operational growth.
  • Proficient in ERP and accounting technologies, including Oracle Cloud and Blackline, with the ability to administer systems, troubleshoot issues, and support integrations.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA Preferred
  • Retail or optical industry experience preferred (2+ years).
  • Oracle Cloud experience strongly preferred; experience with large ERP systems (e.g., SAP) acceptable.
  • Blackline and ProLease experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure complete and accurate accounting for long‑term assets, capital projects, and over 900 office leases in accordance with US GAAP and ASC 842, including new leases, renewals, modifications, expansions, and closures.
  • Partner with Technical Accounting to evaluate SaaS contracts and cloud computing arrangements for proper accounting treatment.
  • Review and approve journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and monthly project reporting to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Lead month‑end close activities related to long-term assets, leases, and capital projects.
  • Partner cross‑functionally with Operations, IT, Real Estate, FP&A, and other stakeholders to improve alignment, decision‑making, and understanding of accounting policies.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and enhance accuracy through automation and system improvements.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of two, including workload management, performance development, training, and goal alignment.
  • Oversee financial statement audit support, including preparation of PBC materials, testing selections, and timely responses to auditor inquiries.
  • Design, implement, and monitor effective internal controls, identify control gaps, and partner with management to support progress toward a SOX‑compliant environment.
  • Develop, maintain, and document accounting policies and procedures related to long-term assets, leases, and capital projects.
  • Manage special projects and analytical initiatives as assigned.
