About The Position

Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is looking for a Manager, Lawyer Talent Acquisition to join our team in our New York or Washington D.C. offices. This position is responsible for supporting and managing lateral partner recruitment for the firm's practice groups. We offer a hybrid work engagement with two days o f remote work, and three days in-office. On a typical day you will: Guide and advise lateral candidates through the recruiting process to ensure their experience is representative of the Firm's standards of excellence. Manage due diligence and offer process. Draft offers and present compensation packages to the Investment Subcommittee. Prepare lateral hire packets for partner candidates presented to the Executive Committee and Partnership. Manage post-offer communications with candidates to maintain momentum and ensure that each candidate has all the information they need to make an informed decision. Work closely with the Director of Lawyer Recruiting, Senior Manager, Lawyer Recruiting, Practice Group Chairs, and other firm leaders to advance strategic hiring initiatives for respective practice groups. Collaborate with Practice Group Chairs and Partners-in-Charge to develop prospective candidate profiles. Coordinate resources to identify candidates who match the profile and determine method of contact and relevant follow-up Collaborate with members of Partner Recruiting team to advance recruiting goals for respective practice groups Monitors current trends in compensation, professional development, and market generally to help ensure Firm's efforts are competitive Conduct trainings across the team to sharpen external pitch with candidates and external recruiters Develop and maintain solid relationships with legal search firms, including negotiate, review, and approve contracts, retainers, and exclusivity agreements with search firms Be an active member of NALSC, NALP, and local legal recruiting city group organization and will be able to obtain benchmarking data through professional networks. Will also be a speaker at national and local organizations. Supervise and train junior team members Travel as necessary

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ work experience as a legal recruiter required, preferably in an environment recruiting partners.
  • 5+ years’ demonstrated knowledge of current law firm industry trends in those markets required.
  • 5+ years’ strong relationships and connections in legal markets, with search firms and counterparts at other legal employers
  • 5+ years’ active involvement and presence in industry professional group(s), in some combination of leadership roles, speaking engagements, publishing articles, etc.
  • Bachelor's Degree required, JD preferred
  • Excellent communicator and interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain effective working relationships and communicate verbally and in writing in a professional, courteous manner with lawyers, firm members, professional staff and other business contacts
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive with the ability to execute against the agreed recruitment strategy
  • Anticipate issues and diplomatically drive initiatives to achieve results
  • Exceptional ability to prioritize and advance projects, work under pressure, and meet deadlines in a timely and organized manner
  • Public relations skills and ability to represent the firm in a professional manner
  • Exercises sound judgment and creative problem-solving skills.
  • This is a non-exempt manager-level position, meaning able to make decisions independently and work as needed.
  • Ability to respect, protect and maintain highly confidential and sensitive information
  • Demonstrated writing ability and excellent grammar, spelling and proofreading skills are required
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Products, i.e. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
  • Must be detail oriented, able to prioritize multiple tasks under tight deadlines, and able to work in an efficient and organized manner
