About The Position

Gilead's mission is to discover, develop, and deliver therapies that will improve the lives of patients with life-threatening illnesses worldwide. As a Manager, Laboratory Operations, your responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Oversee daily operations of the laboratory, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and protocols. Lead readiness for inspections, audits, and internal walkthroughs Coordinate with Facilities, EHS, IT, and other departments as needed to resolve operational issues quickly Create and manage SPARC tickets to support lab and equipment moves, facility issues, and routine lab requests. Manage inventory and procurement processes to maintain adequate supplies and resources for laboratory activities. Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment including bioreactors, cell counters, metabolite analyzers, solution mixers, chromatography skids, pump systems and endotoxin analyzers. Collaborate with scientific lab leads to develop and implement laboratory policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and productivity. Support onboarding of equipment Identify operational bottlenecks and implement lean, 5S, or digital solutions to improve lab efficiency Participate in meetings and projects to share knowledge, resources, and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience; OR Masters' degree and 4+ years of relevant experience; OR PhD and 0+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in laboratory operations
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must think critically and creatively, determine appropriate resources for resolution of problems, and have strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in cross-site collaboration and project management.
  • Experience working with Upstream and Downstream equipment (e.g. SU Bioreactor, Akta, TFF) and associated data collection & retrieval is a bonus
