About The Position

SUMMARY: Manages quality intramural sports programs for the university community, including scheduling programs, managing registration, revising rules and procedures, managing intramural staff and equipment, and other related duties. Coordinates the daily repair/maintenance of the University Recreation outdoor facilities. Manages all aspects of University of Richmond summer camps and conferences, and recreation facility rentals. Serves on the Facility Manager and On-Call Rotation team. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT: Environment: (office, outdoors) Essential physical requirements: (basic functions associated with exercise) Physical effort/lifting: (occasional lifting) Position may be required to work nights, weekends or be on-call as part of the job. Requires employee to serve on Facility Manager Rotation team, and requires medium lifting – up to 50 pounds. QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess thorough knowledge of intramural sports. General knowledge of recreation, athletic or fitness facility operations required. Certification in sports officiating preferred. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing with diverse University constituents, including faculty, staff, students, and parents, and ability to maintain confidentiality. Strong organizational skills required to balance a variety of tasks with a high degree of competence and accuracy. Should possess strong analytical and negotiating skills, and be solution-oriented to resolve disruptive situations. Ability to read, interpret and enforce policies and procedures. Ability to resolve disruptive situations and maintain confidentiality. Ability to balance a variety of tasks with competency and accuracy. Computer proficiency and ability to learn specialized software. CPR/AED and First Aid certification required within 30 days of employment. Ability to be certified to drive University vehicles is required EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Health, Physical Education or Recreation, or related field required; Masters preferred. 3-5 years of experience in Intramural sports or related areas preferred. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at University of Richmond. WORK HOURS: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm; 38.75 hours per week. Schedule may vary.
