About The Position

We are on the lookout for a dynamic Manager, Internal Communications to craft and drive site-wide communications that not only inform but also engage and inspire our colleagues. This pivotal role is designed to strengthen culture, connectivity, and operational excellence across our campus. Reporting to the Associate Director of Campus Experience, you will collaborate with various leaders and teams, including Event & Conference Management, Office Logistics & Space Planning, Site Leadership Team, Corporate Affairs, HR, IT, Facilities, and Employee Resource Groups. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
  • 5–7+ years in internal communications, employee engagement, or corporate communications, preferably in life sciences/biotech/pharma/healthcare or a highly technical environment.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior communications staff, contractors, or coordinators.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to tailor tone and simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Proven experience partnering with senior leaders and influencing in a matrixed organization.
  • Demonstrated success managing multi-channel communications, campaigns, and change initiatives end-to-end.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder management skills; comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-ambiguity environment.
  • Familiarity with digital platforms such as SharePoint, Teams, WorkVivo, eboards/digital signage, and basic analytics dashboards.
  • Comfort with scientific content and an aptitude for translating R&D topics into accessible narratives.
  • Experience with visual storytelling and basic design tools (e.g., PowerPoint; familiarity with Canva, Adobe suite, or similar is a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Align and execute the R&D site communications strategy with enterprise priorities, setting governance, editorial standards, and approval processes.
  • Partner with AD of Campus Experience, AD of Event & Conference Management, and AD of Office Logistics & Space Planning to synchronize campus-wide messaging and cadence.
  • Advise SLT and site leaders on communication approach, sequencing, and impact; ensure brand, accessibility, and compliance standards.
  • Lead multi-channel site communications for operations, transformation, space moves, safety, and technology rollouts; coordinate timing with cross-functional partners.
  • Own the new-hire communications journey, including pre-start touchpoints, orientation content, channel onboarding, toolkits, and follow-up check-ins.
  • Maintain the editorial calendar; monitor reach, engagement, and sentiment; apply data and feedback to optimize cadence and tactics.
  • Support incident and urgent communications with Corporate Affairs and Site Operations; manage vendors as needed.
  • Support the successful relocation of employees from the Waltham site to the new Cambridge hub, ensuring minimal disruption and strong change adoption.
  • Develop and execute change management strategies aligned with organizational growth and evolving workforce needs.
  • Plan, write, edit, and publish leadership messages, scientific narratives, policy/operations updates, and culture content across SharePoint, WorkVivo, email, newsletters, and digital signage.
  • Translate complex R&D topics into clear, engaging stories that connect to purpose and patient impact; uphold brand voice and accessibility.
  • Oversee localized visual/video assets and ensure consistency, clarity, and relevance for diverse audiences.
  • Manage and coach Communications & Engagement Coordinators; set priorities, delegate projects, review output, and develop skills.
  • Direct the coordinator’s execution of onboarding communications, content production, calendar maintenance, and metrics reporting.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-quality, data-informed working style across Campus Experience and partner teams.
