About The Position

The Indirect Tax Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the US property tax compliance and business license filings, including the oversight of outsourced tax compliance providers in addition to the internal tax team. This includes securing fixed asset data, reviewing applications, reconciling accounts, coordinating with internal stakeholders, and ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant tax filings and payments. The role also involves identifying and implementing process improvements, managing automation efforts, assisting with indirect tax audits, and leading a team of tax professionals

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Indirect Tax (Sales and Use, Property, and Business Licenses)
  • 2+ years of people management (outsourced service providers and internal teams)
  • Process improvement experience, including automation tools and workflow optimization.
  • Bachelors Degree required in Business, Finance, or related field.
  • Masters Degree in Taxation, Finance, or related field

Responsibilities

  • Review and verify business license applications for accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform account reconciliations related to business license fees and payments.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment of business license fees.
  • Coordinate with various business units and departments to facilitate the business license filing process.
  • Develop and maintain procedures to track license expirations and requirements.
  • Support ongoing improvements to business license tracking tools and systems.
  • Coordinate with the Fixed Asset team to collect and validate asset data for property tax reporting.
  • Manage outsourced property tax compliance vendor to ensure timely and accurate filings.
  • Review and validate property tax bills and ensure timely payments are executed.
  • Assist with indirect tax audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Collaborate with business units to address and rectify issues identified during tax audits.
  • Manage and supervise tax team members, including performance evaluations and professional development.
