About The Position

Your day to day With input from the VP Tax/Director of Tax, Indirect & State, manage the Company’s state income tax compliance process. Review the current state income tax compliance process (including the tax department’s utilization of Company resources and business processes). Identify areas for improvement, particularly targeting areas where technology can add value. Research and recommend new methods, enhancements, techniques, and/or software in order to improve productivity and to ensure the tax department’s overall effectiveness and delivery of tax services to internal/external customers. Monitor and analyze existing and proposed tax legislation to assess the impacts to the Company. With the VP Tax/Director of Tax, prepare all state income tax workpapers required to support US Year End financial tax reporting, Budget, and 3 year plan. Review supporting schedules prepared by the Tax staff for accuracy and completeness. Review and approve tax accruals for recording at the corporate level and provide financial reporting information to PLC and the Company’s worldwide auditors quarterly, at the end of each year, and for forecasting purposes. For state income and sales tax audits, supervise the collection of documents and data required to complete Information Document Requests and communicate with various auditors as needed. Negotiate and discuss with state representatives to settle examinations and disputes. Manage the staff’s collection, organization, and analysis of tax preparation data from internal and external sources to complete all state tax returns and forms. Provide guidance, support, and review to staff during the information gathering process. Review state income tax returns prepared by third party compliance provider. Ensure that best practices are applied, that all work meets state regulations, and that the Company’s tax liability and exposure are minimized. Ensure compliance with SOX guidelines. Manage assigned state tax planning projects. Supervise staff as needed. Perform research and fact-finding on state income tax issues. Assist on other planning projects, including acquisitions or dispositions of group assets as needed. Manage state income tax notices by reviewing state adjustments or questions, researching potential issues, and providing supporting documentation to state representatives to resolve notice issues. What we need from you Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field of work or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience. CPA designation required. 6 to 8 years progressive work-related experience in preparing federal and state corporate income taxes in a public accounting firm or equivalent in industry, with at least 3 years of supervisory/team leader experience. Demonstrated project management experience in organizing, planning and executing large-scale projects from conception through implementation, including the ability to plan, delegate work and manage a tax compliance process within deadlines and budgets. Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of providing information to clients, vendors, senior management and staff. Strong knowledge of federal and state income tax laws and regulations. Demonstrated knowledge of financial accounting principles and concepts. Travel - Location - Our hybrid work structure is an expectation of three (3) days in the ATLANTA office. This expectation may be adjusted to evolve with the changing needs of the business. The salary range for this role is $106,020 to $120,000. This role is eligible for bonus pay. Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field of work or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience. CPA designation required.
  • 6 to 8 years progressive work-related experience in preparing federal and state corporate income taxes in a public accounting firm or equivalent in industry, with at least 3 years of supervisory/team leader experience.
  • Demonstrated project management experience in organizing, planning and executing large-scale projects from conception through implementation, including the ability to plan, delegate work and manage a tax compliance process within deadlines and budgets.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of providing information to clients, vendors, senior management and staff.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state income tax laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial accounting principles and concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to use best practices in order to minimize tax liability for a corporation.
