The Manager in Development (MID) Program is a structured 12-month internship designed to prepare high-potential individuals for leadership roles within our Food & Beverage team. Through hands-on experience, mentorship, and progressive responsibility, participants will develop the operational, leadership, and financial skills needed to succeed in a management role within a private club environment. What You’ll Gain Hands-on leadership experience in a dynamic hospitality environment Exposure to both Front of House and Back of House operations Direct mentorship and coaching from leadership Experience in financials, labor management, and operations A clear path toward an Assistant Manager or Manager role Program Structure Learning Methods: Job rotations, shadowing, formal training, coaching, and project ownership Evaluation Cadence: Monthly check-ins, quarterly evaluations, and final review Outcome: Readiness for an Assistant Manager or Manager role Key Learning Areas Months 1–3: Foundation & Orientation Focus: Understanding Club culture, service standards, and core operations Learn Club mission, values, and service philosophy Understand departmental structure and service flow Gain exposure to dining operations and event execution Build foundational leadership and communication skills Responsibilities: Shadow managers and supervisors Lead pre-shift meetings with guidance Assist with daily floor supervision Months 4–6: Operational Proficiency Focus: Shift ownership and operational execution Manage day-to-day service operations Gain exposure to kitchen operations and menu execution Learn inventory, cost control, and sanitation standards Support event execution and staffing Responsibilities: Serve as Manager on Duty for assigned shifts Assist with inventory counts and ordering Support team communication and service execution Months 7–9: Leadership & Financial Acumen Focus: Leading people and understanding the business Develop leadership style aligned with Club culture Learn labor management, scheduling, and productivity metrics Gain exposure to budgeting and financial reporting Manage member relations and service recovery Responsibilities: Assist with scheduling and labor planning Lead team trainings and pre-shift briefings Handle member feedback and service recovery Months 10–12: Strategic Thinking & Readiness Focus: Preparing for a long-term management role Think strategically about operations and service Contribute ideas to improve efficiency and member experience Collaborate across departments Gain exposure to budgeting and forecasting Capstone Project: Identify an operational or service opportunity Develop and implement a solution Present results and recommendations to leadership Responsibilities: Serve regularly as Manager on Duty Mentor team members or junior supervisors Participate in management meetings What Success Looks Like Operates effectively with minimal oversight Demonstrates strong leadership and accountability Communicates effectively across FOH and BOH teams Builds trust with team members and membership Shows readiness for next-level leadership Why Join Us At Boca Woods Country Club, we are committed to developing our team from within.
