About The Position

The Specialty Operations Underwriting unit has an immediate opening for an Underwriting Manager (Manager II) position in our Large Account Underwriting Program. This position can be filled in the county of: Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Fresno, Sacramento, Alameda, Solano, and Sonoma. We are seeking a qualified candidate who is passionate about underwriting, results oriented and enthusiastic about managing a team of experienced underwriters handling complex risks and delivering the utmost stewardship to our customers. The candidate must also possess a passion for people leadership. Under the direction of the Vice President of Large Accounts, this position will perform management and leadership functions in support of a team of underwriters and customer service representatives, in compliance with Corporate Underwriting and Corporate Marketing guidelines and procedures, to: Underwrite, quote and service new business and renewal policies for an assigned book of business including, but not limited to: Book of business management. Account stewardship of the highest standard. Ensure consistent collaboration with a variety of stakeholders. Set clear expectations and ensure staff have the tools to be successful. Perform the full range of duties of an Underwriting Manager dealing with varied, sensitive, complex, analytical and consultative work. Effectively develop staff in support of State Fund's organizational goals. Partner with brokers and clients to design and deliver innovative solutions. Requirements

  • The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
  • Selected candidate(s) hired may be required to attend in-person Onboarding at our Vacaville office with expenses for attendance paid by State Fund.
  • To be considered, you must provide a fully completed STD 678 application, resume, and/or statement of qualifications if required. Alternative documents submitted in lieu of required Application, Resume, or Statement of Qualifications will not be accepted. Completed STD 678 must include duties performed, start and end dates, and hours worked per week for each position held.
