Department OverviewThe Manager, Human Rights position on Global Impact’s Sustainability & Social Impact team will help to shape, operationalize and communicate McDonald’s human rights strategy through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders on existing and emerging human rights issues. The Manager will report to the Director, Human Rights. The Manager will collaborate closely with key functional partners, such as Global Supply Chain, Global People, Legal, markets, external stakeholders and others to continually strengthen human rights due diligence and oversight.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years’ experience working inhuman rights, human resources, sustainable sourcing or related field, ideally for a global company;
  • Exceptional communication, flexibility, influencing and interpersonal skills, often working with global, virtual and cross-functional teams;
  • Project management expertise with strong data analysis skills and experience building strong working relationships and driving continuous improvement across multiple markets/product categories;
  • Demonstrated leadership role, within industry working groups, establishing a strong stakeholder network and representing organizations externally;
  • Highly organized and adept at managing across diverse workstreams and issues;
  • A global mind-set and positive, collaborative spirit;

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in sustainability, business, human resources, and human rights, such as an MBA or Masters in Sustainability, or JD with human rights law experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evolve and operationalize McDonald's human rights strategy at-scale with key internal partners and in alignment with regulatory obligations, sustainability goals, and corporate values.
  • Coordinate the McDonald’s cross-functional Human Rights Working Group, which governs the human rights management systems within functions and markets.
  • Manage across diverse project workstreams, coordinating across internal and external stakeholder partners, to ensure timely delivery of outputs that drive positive impact.
  • Support partner functions (e.g. Global People, Global Supply Chain, Legal) in exploring and designing ways to further embed respect for human rights within the business, such as enhanced due diligence models, social compliance tools, internal monitoring, and remediation.
  • Identify opportunities for external stakeholder advisors / partners on human rights; liaise and strengthen relationships with external experts and multi-stakeholder groups, leveraging key events and amplifying McDonald's actions and opportunities.
  • Manage annual human rights reporting, disclosure and communications inquiries, as needed, including identifying potential for expanded KPI tracking, etc.
