About The Position

About the Manager, Hospital Engagement & Strategy The Manager, Hospital Engagement & Strategy is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of Hospital Engagement & Strategy Staff in order to promote and increase the number of donors by defining donor potential and implementing effective and measurable programs to maximize donation in Arizona hospitals. This position provides oversight, supervision, and coaching to the Hospital Engagement and Strategy direct reports and others as needed. In coordination with the Director of Hospital Engagement and Strategy ensures adequate staffing levels are maintained for the department. This position ensures all staff members are fully trained and capable of performing duties in compliance with DNA policies as well as regulatory standards. In addition, the manager will be responsible for special projects as they relate to Hospital Engagement and Strategy as assigned by the Director of Hospital Engagement and Strategy. This position will build and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with all departments to ensure every aspect of the organ donation process supports Donor Network of Arizona’s mission, vision, and core values. Responsibilities are to be carried out in a fashion that reflects DNA’s comprehensive/full-service approach to donation with attention to priority management based upon donor potential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5 years experience in hospital development or another field within an organ procurement organization (OPO)
  • 3 years of leadership experience

Responsibilities

  • Manages the direction of and oversees staff who are responsible for the following programs: Hospital Development/Medical Education Medical Record Review
  • Oversees the orientation and training of new staff for the department, as well as ensuring the orientation and ongoing education for other staff involved in development activities.
  • Facilitates regular department meetings.
  • Participates in Donor Network Management Meetings.
  • Conducts timely performance evaluations and feedback of each department team member. This includes onsite observation of educational presentations, demonstration of implementation of customized marketing plans in hospitals, feedback from customers, and assessment of DNA’s core values.
  • Oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of the departments’ strategic plans. Develops plans based on research, data analysis and past experience. Ensures the review of individual staff quarterly plans designed to meet broader strategic goals and objectives.
  • Directs and oversees Mortality Audit and Medical Record Review Process to define organ donor potential for the state of Arizona.
  • Oversees and ensures the delivery of quality data to DNA’s customers.
  • Facilitates a consistent process for organ, tissue and eye donation by formulating systems that measure potential donor outcomes against mutually defined goals.
  • Identifies, documents and resolves issues related to organ, tissue and eye donation in a timely manner including, but not limited to, missed potential donors. Provides timely positive feedback within assigned hospitals.
  • Assesses the needs, strengths and weaknesses of assigned hospitals.
  • Educates appropriate hospital personnel and administrators regarding their obligations under A.R.S. § 36-849, other applicable sections of Arizona’s Uniform Anatomical Gift Act, Medicare COP’s and JCAHO standards.
  • Creates an active network of formal and informal “donation champions” in the designated hospitals and community.
  • Generates written reports on analysis of key donation process outcomes.
  • Participates in quality assurance audit activities and outcome measurement related to donation.
  • Through formal and informal presentations, helps health care professionals understand the importance of donation both for its intrinsic value and as an extension of patient care.
  • Provides training and support for health care professionals involved in the donation consent process. Includes clinical, technical, and administrative DNA personnel as needed to provide comprehensive education programs for assigned hospitals.
  • Coordinates professional education events and special projects. Coordinates such events as Donate Life Month, Holiday Gift Giving, Nurses Week, and others as appropriate.
  • Participates in professional events such as trauma conferences, and other symposiums and events targeting key healthcare professionals.
  • In conjunction with the Director, and other area Supervisors, participates in the process of purchasing and creating marketing supplies for department. Ensure accurate inventory and tracking of materials.
  • Develops and monitors department budget.
  • Performs other duties and participates in special projects as required.
