About The Position

The Manager of Healthy Living serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for health and wellness across the organization, driving the development and execution of health-focused merchandising, marketing, and strategic initiatives. This role is instrumental in advancing Giant’s healthy food sales goals, enhancing the customer experience, and supporting sustainable retailing objectives. This position is responsible for identifying opportunities to grow and monetize health-focused programs, advocating for and implementing nutrition and sustainability frameworks like Guiding Stars and HowGood, and ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide strategies. The Manager will also play a critical role in measuring the effectiveness of initiatives and communicating outcomes to leadership.

Requirements

  • BS in Nutrition or related field, Registered Dietitian (RD)
  • 1-2+ years' experience as retail dietitian preferred
  • Knowledge of food trends, culinary trends, and consumer trends
  • Ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities, deadlines and workloads
  • Ability to connect with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to organize and summarize information clearly and concisely
  • Ability to develop action plans and systems to facilitate and track findings and recommendations
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • MS Office knowledge including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work well in teams
  • Available to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Ability to travel throughout Giant’s market area

Responsibilities

  • Manage Healthy Living’s Handpicked shopper marketing program.
  • Identify opportunities to scale existing program.
  • Learn merchandising processes and procedures and make connections to Healthy Living, identifying opportunities for collaboration and growth.
  • Work with Healthy Living Director to measure impact/ Return On Investment (ROI) of health-focused merch programs, ensuring proper KPIs, measurement, and reporting to Giant’s leadership.
  • Represent Healthy Living in at JBPs/BBPs and vendor meetings.
  • Build collaborative relationships with CPGs and food industry stakeholders (i.e. FMI, CSPI, etc).
  • Serve as Brand’s SME and champion of Guiding Stars nutrition rating system and Impact Ratings powered by HowGood.
  • Serve as Healthy Living SME to help identify opportunities to support and surpass Giant’s sustainable retailing goals for Healthy Food Sales.
  • Serve as liaison between merchandising team and Healthy Living team.
  • Offer product recommendations for all Healthy Living channels (podcast, classes, blog, etc).
  • Serve as Healthy Living SME to influence HL assortment and drive Healthy Food Sales.
  • Work with Merchandising, District Centric Team, and Store Operations teams to ensure execution of Healthy Living-focused programs and plans.
  • Partner with merchandising leadership to define best practices for health-focused merchandising programs to include supplier-partner programs while identifying incremental monetization opportunities.
  • Collaborate with key internal departments including Community Relations, Pharmacy, Marketing, Sustainable Retailing, and Merchandising, and Store Operations teams to further our Healthy Living strategy.
  • Serve as liaison between Private Brands teams and Healthy Living team.
  • Serve as a spokesperson for Giant’s Healthy Living programs at meetings and conferences.
  • Represent Giant in various media outlets including television, radio, newspaper and social media.
  • Represent Giant at company-sponsored events.
  • In partnership with Marketing and Merchandising teams, serve as Healthy Living SME to grow Giant’s in-store Healthy Living presence through strategy and marketing tactics.
