About The Position

This position is responsible for overseeing the Environmental, Health and Safety programs (EHS) at KCD/ONE – Chemaid (Saddle Brook, NJ). The EHS Coordinator will be accountable for the development, implementation and oversite of all environmental health and safety programs (EHS), including risk assessment, inspections, Incident investigation, and EHS training. The role will lead the site’s efforts to comply with applicable KDC/One as well as local, and federal EHS regulations, and sustainability programs and environmental compliance. This person will also lead the site- specific safety steering committees and Emergency Response Teams. Responsible for championing various awareness campaigns for promoting a culture of safety. This position will report directly to the Vice-President / General Manager of Chemaid.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required with focus in sciences preferred.
  • EHS related certification (CSP, CIH, CHMM) highly recommended
  • Technical and working understanding of manufacturing plant and distribution facility settings and processes.
  • Superior organizational, communications, and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Capable of interacting with management and all levels of employees with diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven project management experience and ability
  • Result oriented, dependable, self-starter with strong work ethics.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, EPA, API, NFPA, ASME, ISO, FDA, and ANSI standards.
  • Able to multi-task and be flexible in a dynamic work environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Independent thinker with strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Leadership to establish appropriate EHS goals and ensure systems are in place to meet or surpass these goals.
  • Design and implement safety programs that inspire commitment and develop an employee culture of strong EHS engagement.
  • Continuously improve the overall Safety Culture and ensure the site understands and actively manages all their EHS related risks.
  • Develop and implement safety programs that focus on the empowerment of all employees and that create an atmosphere of total ownership across the entire workforce.
  • Develop and maintain EHS programs to train employees in workplace safety and incident prevention.
  • Ensure prevention programs, procedures and policies are focused on providing a safe work environment in compliance with all company, Local, State and Federal rules, and standards.
  • Develop, administer, or conduct EHS training programs covering required and best practice topics. Evaluate effectiveness of training
  • Ensure programs are in place to assure compliance with all federal, state, local and company EHS rules and regulations.
  • Develop, maintain, and report on key performance indicators (KPI’s) that monitor and drive improvement in the areas of safety, environmental compliance, and sustainability.
  • Identify safety and environmental compliance issues through a comprehensive audit program. Utilize audit results to develop root cause / corrective action plans and to advise senior management of priority issues and / or notable trends.
  • Lead the investigations of all incidents, unsafe acts, near misses and employee observations using the 6M approach to set new or improve existing standards.
  • Ensure timely and thorough reporting of all incidents in compliance with site specific and corporate guidelines.
  • Facilitate, manage, and verify implementation of corrective actions and preventative measures.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining internal Fire Protection Programs and Environmental Programs to ensure compliance with all Property Insurance requirements.
  • Partner with Engineering, Facilities and Operations to identify, and implement projects in support of site energy, waste, and water reduction goals.
  • Ensure all facilities are prepared for audits by OSHA, EPA, and independent agencies and that sites have all applicable certifications and licenses relating to local, state and federal EH&S regulations.
  • Maintain effective relationships with regulatory agencies.
  • Manage/Coordinate EHS related regulatory inspections.
  • Lead workers compensation case management including reporting, interface with injured workers, and workers compensation administrator.
  • Responsible for EH&S initiatives supporting multi-sites with various workforce shift schedules.
