About The Position

Regional One Health is currently seeking a Manager, HBO, Wound Care & Plastics Services. A Brief Overview The Manager, HBO/ Wound Care & Plastic Services plans and coordinates the operations of the HBO, Wound Care & Plastics Services to ensure that quality hyperbaric oxygen therapy, wound & burn care treatments, and plastic surgery services are provided to patients. Responsible for safe patient handling and safety procedures associated with hyperbaric medicine. Works collaboratively with medical/hospital staff for coordination and management of patient care to integrate activities. Designated as the onsite Hyperbaric Safety Director as required by NFPA 99, Health Care Facility Code. Assists Sr.VP to develop objectives, policies, procedures and standards of performance. What you will do Apprises Sr.VP of all activities, pertinent changes in internal/external market, threats, and opportunities in a timely and anticipatory manner and presents action plans for immediate implementation/approval. Maintains current awareness of customer needs and meets standards and compliance requirements relative to HBO, Wound Care & Plastic Services operations to ensure quality services are provided for patients during hyperbaric oxygen therapy and wound care treatments. Assists in developing objectives, policies, procedures and standards of performance required for HBO, Wound Care & Plastics operations. Promotes utilization of HBO within the community in the prevention and better management of chronic wounds. Initiates/attends cross-functional teams to resolve issues and for performance improvement as required. Participates in orientation and serves as a resource to HBO, Wound Care & Plastic Services medical and hospital staff regarding departmental policies and procedures and medical staff bylaws. Plans, implements and manages department activities to effectively and efficiently provide quality HBO/Wound & Plastics Services. Plans work schedules, assigns work and monitors workflow to provide adequate HBO/Wound Care services at all times through individual or cooperative activities. Ensures appropriate treatment programs are planned, implemented and modified as needed for each patient based upon on-going assessments and according to the assigned specialty area(s). Ensures required documentation is completed thoroughly, accurately, and in a timely manner. Ensures that staff works in collaboration with other disciplines, physician, health care team members, and external healthcare organizations for HBO/Wound & Plastics Service needs according to patient plan of care. Supervises the financial resources of assigned areas of responsibility. Monitors’ operating revenues and expenses, administers established cost control program, monitors budget variances and reports significant variances to the Sr.VP. Coordinates and implements operations of the HBO Services to include preventive maintenance tasks and the repair of chamber systems and analyzing equipment. Ensures HBO therapy is performed according to established policies and procedures. Apply technical and operational knowledge to support the operation, maintenance and safety of a multi-place hyperbaric (HBO) chamber and other hyperbaric support systems. Participates and coordinates activities within the hospital organizations Environment of Care Committee, representing the hyperbaric facility at monthly meetings, supplies information as need for quarterly reports and assures compliance with NFPA applicable codes governing the service provide in the hyperbaric chamber. Coordinate the inspection of HBO chamber and related equipment for safety and proper functioning; ensure the safety of personnel and patients. Coordinates maintenance and repairs HBO Chamber support equipment, analyzers and instrumentation. Coordinate the efficient management of HBO/Wound & Plastics Services resources. Monitors the documentation of required information in patient records according to hospital policies and procedures and HBO/Wound Care standards of practice. Ensures the processing of new patient referrals and authorizations have been obtained when appropriate. Ensures that patient information is entered and updated into computer correctly (i.e. demographic, treatment/service provided, and other clinical documentation as required). Maintains accurate charge capture for services provided and effectively allocates resources to meet department needs. Ensures billing discrepancies are resolved to avoid delay in patient billing. Ensures that patients are scheduled for treatment and registered appropriately. Serves as the hyperbaric safety director to ensure safe hyperbaric chamber operations in accordance with industry and regulatory standards. Confers and works collaboratively with hospital/medical staff in compliance with iRESPECT standards and promoting patient/customer satisfaction to coordinate and implement activities, to obtain information, answer inquiries and resolve problems regarding HBO/Wound Care & Plastics Services. Coordinates and integrates HBO/Wound Care & Plastics Services with other disciplines to maximize overall effectiveness of the department. Performs HBO/Wound & Plastics Services as required and within clinical competency. Operates the HBO chamber, participates in patient care, patient transfers, performs wound care, making patients comfortable and assisting with all aspects of the HBO/Wound Center’s daily operation with consideration given to risk management, infection control practices and patient safety practices. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide care, maintains clinical competency and meets age-specific patient needs in a caring, compassionate, and sensitive manner. Implements and monitors system measurements to ensure delivery of quality patient care. Makes rounds and provides managerial presence to ensure planned or required care is being provided to patients. Ensures compliance with joint commission standards for patient care, hospital policies and procedures, compliance/performance improvement, safety, infection control, and other regulatory requirements. Coaches staff in the resolution of problems and utilization of resources in implementing HBO/Wound care services. Ensures resource materials are available. Updates and maintains a written unit specific QA plan. Collects data and reports to unit QA results with a written plan. Ensures that staff understands and is involved with implementation and evaluation of unit based QA plan. Provides leadership in the development and evaluation of standards of care. Utilizes manual and automated information systems to improve efficiency and effect productivity. Compiles, prepares and maintains records, reports and files for administrative and compliance purposes. Utilizes computer and information systems to enter, format data and generates statistics, computations, tables, charts and graphs. Utilizes analytic skills and statistical analysis to aggregate data to assist with the identification of potential problems and patterns, trends, establish priorities and recommend improvement activities. Reports trends in data which reflect system issues, establishes priorities and recommends improvement activities to Director and/or other responsible parties. Ensures all applicable NFPA codes are followed to assure compliance while maintaining Hyperbaric Facility Accreditation through the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society in each three years accreditation cycle. Supervises, develops and motivates direct reports to ensure that a capable, productive staff exists within HBO/Wound services. Selects, orients, trains and develops staff to meet requirements set forth in department plan treating patients with chronic wounds or illness requiring hyperbaric oxygen therapy in accordance with established organizational policies, procedures and bylaws, billing requirements, and other regulatory/legal requirements. Fosters a safe environment for staff to expand in their application of care practices, teamwork skills and accountability for organizational goals. Assists in the preparation of operating budget and is responsible for adherence to approved budget. Utilizes defined procedures to allocate resources such as FTEs, supplies and inventory. Monitors performance of support staff in the ordering, inventory, cleaning and maintenance of equipment for the department. Communicate with vendors concerning equipment as necessary. Coordinates and integrates HBO/Wound Care & Plastics Services with other disciplines to maximize overall effectiveness of the department.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Nursing, EMT and diving program (commercial or military) Required
  • Qualified by education, training or experience to work with the adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patient population as specialty assignment dictates Required
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Upon Hire Required
  • EMT - Emergency Medical Tech Upon Hire Required
  • Certified Hyperbaric Medical Technologist Upon Hire Required
  • CHRN - Certified Hyperbaric Registered Nurse Through the National Board of Diving Hyperbaric Medical Technologist (NBDHMT) Upon Hire Required
  • Baromedical Nurses Association (BNA) Upon Hire Required
  • Hyperbaric Safety Director (HSD) within 60 Days Required
  • Minimum 3 years experience Experience in a health care setting with significant experience in diving and/or medical system experience in a military, commercial and/or medical setting Required
  • Minimum 1 year experience In the operation of both multi and mono place chambers. Required
