About The Position

Provides outreach support to students, parents, and the community for campus based support services and benefits that can assist students and their families in succeeding in school. Serves as the Point of Contact for educational stability for foster children and as intake support for refugee students.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Family Studies or related field or a Bachelor's Degree and six years of experience; or an Associates Degree and ten years of experience; or a High School Diploma and fourteen years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Upholds fidelity and intent of the processes required for foster care children.
  • Coordinates with CYFD on the implementation of the Title I provisions.
  • Leads the implementation and makes recommendations for revisions, as necessary, of a process for making the best interest determination.
  • Documents the best educational interest determination for foster students.
  • Facilities the transfer of records and immediate enrollment.
  • Facilitates data sharing with CYFD, consistent with FERPA, HIPPA, FAPE and other privacy and confidentiality protocols.
  • Develops, manages, and coordinates with CYFD and APS Transportation Department transportation procedures.
  • Ensure that children in foster are enrolled in and regularly attending school.
  • Provides technical assistance to school staff on educational, personal and social needs for foster care students.
  • Ensures compliance with the ESSA Title I and Fostering Connections Act provisions for ensuring educational stability of foster care students.
  • Maintains and provides associated documentation for all disputes related to student in foster care placement.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
