About The Position

We're looking for motivated, engaged people to help make everyone's journeys better. Responsible for managing the unit Garage maintenance operations to insure it will be safely operated, properly equipped at a cost-effective level. Confer with the unit management to plan scheduled preventative maintenance programs and routine maintenance and repairs. Responsible for managing the Regional Garage maintenance operations to insure it will be safely operated and properly equipped at a cost effective level. Requirements

  • High School diploma
  • Vehicle/GSE school degree
  • Must have 5 years of experience working with the operations, maintenance, or administration of fleets of vehicles in a supervisory capacity.
  • Must have strong background in all types of vehicles maintenance.
  • Must be able to manage large volumes of information in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have strong leadership skills and the ability to successfully manage a staff of mechanics.
  • Must have excellent time management skills.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Must be proficient in the use of all standard Microsoft applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be available 24/7 for maintenance issues that may arise.
  • Must be able to perform emergency vehicle maintenance if necessary.
  • Regularly, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during shifts of 10+ hours.
  • In a normal production facility there may be physical discomfort due to temperature and noise.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and move product, equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • A rotating schedule of over 55 hours per week is typical.
  • Able to work in deadline driven environment

Nice To Haves

  • Additional degrees and or experience is a plus
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is a plus.
  • Bi-lingual a plus

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for direct communications with the region's units and their respective transportation departments.
  • Evaluate unit fleets and write up maintenance problems and communicate to management.
  • Actively supervise the truck mechanics. This includes, but not limited to, actively training the mechanics, and assisting them in emergencies or whenever necessary.
  • Oversee the ordering of all major stock orders and assist with regular parts ordering.
  • Identify spare vehicles and coordinate the most efficient use of these vehicles.
  • Develop training programs for Company mechanics using vendor supplied material and training aids.
  • Aid Fleet Managers in developing vehicle maintenance contracts and programs for non-owned garages.
  • Review and perform physical inspection of all vehicles in their assigned area.
  • Review quality of work performed by outside vendors.
  • Work closely with third party vendors and evaluate the quality of work performed and pricing.
  • Responsible to secure regulatory compliance in all maintenance facilities and maintain environmental and safe working conditions Administration.
  • Monitor and approve vendor invoices.
  • Provide assistance in locating hard to get parts for other units.
  • Assist with warranty work recovery, especially new vehicle equipment warranties and obtain maximum refunds for parts and labor costs during warranty periods.
  • Must actively participate in all month end inventories.
  • Insure all Gate Gourmet Policies and Procedures are followed.
  • Insure timely and accurate reports are distributed as required.
  • Interview outside mechanics for competency, quality and price for work performed.
  • Assist with training of company mechanics.
  • Identify and track all costs for the area of responsibility.
  • Evaluate units to determine requirements for maintenance agreements.
  • Assist in the transfer of equipment between units.
  • Identify high-cost equipment items and assist management with budgeting on these items.
  • Evaluate work orders and purchases, check quality of repairs and preventative maintenance in order to ensure that all maintenance operations are as efficient and economically operated as possible.
  • Authorize all vehicle repairs over $500.00, in advance, to ensure repairs are as economical as possible.
  • Assist with the selling of company owned vehicles.
  • Perform employee evaluations annually.
