About The Position

As a Manager of Communications at FICO, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and elevating the narrative around FICO’s Software business. In this position, you’ll help amplify the company’s software and analytics story across earned, paid and owned media channels. You’ll partner closely with product, marketing, and executive teams to drive visibility for key initiatives—including product launches, technology innovations, customer success stories, strategic partnerships, and major corporate announcements. You’ll also support executive thought leadership by developing angles, securing high-impact media opportunities, and ensuring consistent, strategic positioning across platforms. This role will contribute to event and speaker programs, helping prepare leaders for industry conferences, media interviews, and customer engagements. We’re looking for someone with sharp media instincts, strong storytelling skills, and the ability to translate complex B2B technology topics into clear, engaging narratives. Success in this role requires comfort operating in a fast-paced environment, sound judgment, and a proactive, collaborative approach to communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 4-5+ years of experience in media relations, public relations, or communications—preferably in B2B tech and or financial services.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics and tailor messaging for different media and stakeholder audiences.
  • Experience drafting press releases, strategy documents, internal memos, and related PR materials.
  • Familiarity with the media landscape and a working knowledge of how to engage reporters across financial, technology and business outlets.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented mindset and a willingness to grow and take ownership of projects.
  • Highly adaptable and collaborative—approaches work with humility, a hands-on mindset, and a readiness to support the broader communications team across varied responsibilities, workstreams and regions.
  • Demonstrates strong executive presence with the confidence to engage senior leaders, articulate strategic communications approaches, and influence key decisions through stakeholder education.
  • Thrives in fast-paced, high-growth settings, balancing multiple priorities with agility and consistently delivering results amid shifting demands.

Responsibilities

  • Drive brand, product, and vertical industry storytelling that clearly communicates the value of FICO’s technology and analytics.
  • Support thought leadership efforts, including intake calls, media pitch creation, and preparation for events, conferences, and interviews.
  • Draft and refine press releases, Q&As, talking points, media strategies, and executive briefing materials to ensure consistent and compelling messaging.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key media; manage inbound media inquiries; proactively pitch FICO news; and staff interviews as needed.
  • Support content development across owned channels, including blog posts, executive bylines, and narrative frameworks.
  • Assist in managing external PR agencies, ensuring clear direction, strong collaboration, and timely delivery of projects and deadlines.
  • Coordinate executive interviews, prepare spokespeople, and provide on site support at events and speaking engagements.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams—including product, analytics, legal, and marketing—to gather insights and ensure accuracy and alignment in all communications.
  • Monitor media coverage, track progress against KPIs, and provide reporting and insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee awards programs, including identifying opportunities and drafting award submissions.
  • Stay current on technology and industry trends, identifying opportunities to insert FICO into relevant conversations and anticipate emerging topics.
