The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC), The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute are committed to enhancing the quality of care provided to patients through teaching, research and patient care. The James is also committed to providing the community/region it serves with quality services in cancer detection, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation as one of the nation's 10 free standing cancer-only hospitals, which is one of the largest PPS-exempt hospitals in the USA. The new James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institution, and Critical Care Tower, including an expanded Emergency Department, is a transformational facility that fosters collaboration and integration of research and clinical cancer care. This 21-level hospital will help revolutionize the way cancer prevention and care are provided in this nation with world-class oncologists and cancer researchers working side-by-side to unlock the mysteries of cancer's causes and, using those discoveries, move from treating cancer to preventing it from ever occurring. Program activities offered in the new hospital includes: 276 acute care beds, 72 critical care beds (72 shelled), 152 outpatient exam rooms, 40 infusion stations, 16 clinical trial stations, 12 Apheresis beds, and expanded Emergency Department by 46 rooms, 16 rooms dedicated to oncology patients. The James currently encompasses more than 12,500 annual hospital admissions, over 380,000 annual outpatient and clinic patient visits, and over 8,500 surgeries per year. The OSUWMC Emergency Department patient visits are over 68,000 per year. The Environmental Services Director supports The James' mission and values by coordinating and providing comprehensive environmental services. Responsibilities include actively promoting an Intensive Caring image in support of an absolute customer satisfaction. The patients served by the new hospital will find themselves at the intersection of research, education, and customized care. Research and education spaces will be located on every floor, enhancing the bench-to-beside approach to patient care and giving patients early access to new treatments and tools. The Environmental Services Manager is responsible for all management functions for supervisors & housekeeping personnel employed for the day to day operations of cleaning the Medical Center facilities. Environmental includes, but is not limited to: cleaning support areas on patient units, offices, labs, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairs and outside entrances, as well as other functions associated with the day to day operations of the Medical Center. This position encompasses customer service, communication, coordination, and inspecting for the assigned areas. Responsibilities include actively promoting a positive image in support of absolute customer satisfaction.
