Help us help others, and join Team Unum today! General Summary: This individual is accountable for leading facilities operations and environmental management for US locations as assigned. The Facilities Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Corporate Real Estate & Workplace Services functions performed at the site. Responsibilities include the oversight of campus cleaning, site maintenance, grounds upkeep, and equipment maintenance to ensure that a workspace is safe and functional. Duties include coordinating the procurement of service providers through the Strategic Sourcing team, vendor relationship management and inspecting facilities to meet safety regulations and coordinating renovations and updates. Goals are to strengthen employee (internal customer) experience, safety and environmental compliance, business resiliency, financial management, infrastructure performance, tenant management, and sustainability.

Requirements

  • BA/BS preferred; engineering, facilities management, disciplines preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of previous experience in facilities management and real estate.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage staff.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and manner.
  • Ability to lift and carry approximately 50 lbs.
  • Highly self-motivated – will go the extra mile to get the job done right and “wow” our internal customers and stakeholders.
  • Consulting and advisory skills; ability to think conceptually, handle ambiguity, solve complex problems, and make thoughtful recommendations.
  • Some travel is required

Responsibilities

  • Onsite representative of Corporate Real Estate & Workplace Services team for the local business areas and internal business continuity planning.
  • Manage site specific organization including external service providers.
  • Coordinates the maintenance and alteration of office areas and equipment, such as moves/adds/changes, HVAC repairs, landscaping, etc.
  • Project manage, or coordinates with project manager, site specific capital and expense projects as assigned.
  • Assists Corporate Safety and Security team with safety related issues and safety program support.
  • Manage site specific annual operating budget to achieve financial, operational, quality, experience, safety, and compliance objectives.
  • Ensure that the highest level of quality and customer service is maintained.
  • Ensure vendor compliance with quality and performance expectations.
  • Enforce policy compliance.
  • Ensure service providers maintain adequate staffing and team structure needed to achieve departmental and/or corporate service goals.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to operate more efficiently.
  • Establish strong, effective, and collaborative partnerships with key internal customers and external resources.
  • Ensure a strong understanding of priorities to balance employee experience, financial performance, risk tolerance, and sustainability goals.
  • Respond to critical events or emergencies, including providing oversight when needed.
  • Serves as a liaison to public safety officials for inspections and emergency response, when directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
