The Opportunity This position will provide support to our Medical Devices, Vascular manufacturing facility in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico. Our medical devices help more than 10,000 people have healthier hearts, improve quality of life for thousands of people living with chronic pain and movement disorders, and liberate more than 500,000 people with diabetes from routine fingersticks and Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease. As a Manager Environmental Health and Safety, will Implement, oversee, and adapt policies and programs to improve the organization's environmental and safety performance, ensure it complies with current and future regulations and standards, and protect its reputation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years technical experiences in: Solid knowledge of corporate, federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
  • Experience in environmental management, monitoring, and preparation of regulatory reports.
  • Ability to conduct incident investigations, root cause analysis, and development of corrective actions.
  • Experience in industrial hygiene and occupational health programs.
  • Ability to provide expert guidance on new projects, equipment installations, and product changes.
  • Experience managing audits, inspections, and compliance activities.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience supervising teams, evaluating performance, and developing staff.
  • Experience managing audits, inspections, and compliance activities.
  • Advanced English communication skills (written and verbal) to interact effectively with global stakeholders.
  • Digital skills: Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Manage EHS activities to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and internal environmental, health, and safety policies.
  • Monitor, measure, and report EHS performance metrics, identifying risks and areas for continuous improvement.
  • Conduct safety audits and on-site inspections to proactively identify workplace hazards and environmental risks.
  • Lead and coordinate investigations of safety and environmental incidents, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Prepare regulatory reports, internal reports, and recommendations for leadership and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee waste management and environmental sustainability programs.
  • Design, develop, and deliver EHS training and awareness programs for employees and leadership.
  • Provide expert guidance and technical support on EHS matters to area managers, project teams, and leadership.
  • Support new projects, equipment installations, and product or process changes by evaluating EHS impacts and ensuring compliance.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend enhancements to EHS systems, programs, and policies to improve overall performance.
  • Maintain strong relationships with community members, environmental groups, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders impacted by the organization’s EHS performance.
  • Stay current with evolving environmental, health, and safety regulations to ensure internal policies remain up to date and relevant.
  • Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team of EHS professionals, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
