JOB SUMMARY Leads a team of enterprise architects to align the organization's technology strategy with its business goals, defining frameworks, roadmaps, and governance for IT systems, applications, data, and infrastructure. This role will ensure scalability, security, and efficiency, while managing budgets, mentoring staff, and advising senior leadership on transformation and innovation. This role will focus on bridging strategy and execution, overseeing digital transformations, standardizing processes, and optimizing IT investments for agility and cost-effectiveness. JOB DUTIES Responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and performance management of staff. Frequently interacts with reporting supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areas or customers. Responsible for the management of subordinate staff within a department. Typically has individual contributors as direct reports, but could have supervisory direct reports. Has full responsibility for direct reports. Generally provides input to budgeting and financial decisions that impact the department. Requests approval for financial actions beyond a limited scope. ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES Leads the evolution and continuous improvement of the enterprise architecture function/program Develops the content for ERCOT’s enterprise architecture strategic plan Analyzes the current IT and operations environments to detect critical deficiencies and recommends solutions to the deficiencies Creates and publishes technical and business roadmaps based upon in-depth analysis and research Advocates and promotes using EA processes, outcomes, and results to ERCOT leaders Consults with project teams to align projects with the enterprise architecture and to identify when it is necessary to modify the enterprise architecture to accomplish project needs Consults with application and infrastructure architects to align solution architectures with the enterprise architecture Evaluates and understands emerging technologies and market trends through research and study to help guide ERCOT to better ways to deliver reliable services Directs the standards setting process across all platforms including developing and maintaining technology roadmaps for platforms used at ERCOT Leads a standards committee across the organization to develop and maintain the architecture guiding principles and standards to guide technological investments at ERCOT Oversees the development and delivery of technology vendor strategies

Requirements

  • Requires minimum 8 years job related work experience and 2 years in a leadership role in excess of degree requirements.
  • Minimum years of job-related experience can include time in leadership roles.
  • Bachelor's Degree : Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering or related field (Required)
  • or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required

Nice To Haves

  • Strongly prefer experience in one of the following operational areas: grid operations, market operations, or transmission operations within the electric utility industry
  • Prefer previous work experience at an ISO/RTO
  • Master's Degree : Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering or related field (Preferred)
  • TOGAF (Preferred)
