About The Position

As the Manager – Engineering, you will manage all engineering activities within the department, including design, development, production, and testing. You will implement and maintain engineering objectives and strategic initiatives. You will identify, confront, and resolve performance and operational issues to improve development efficiency. You will lead, mentor, and develop the engineering team. You will oversee a robust project management process and ensure timelines are met to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree - Industrial or mechanical engineering or related field required; Masters Degree preferred
  • 7 years required, 10 years preferred of engineering, including industrial, mechanical, or related
  • 7 years required, 10 years preferred of design software expertise (Pro-E, AutoCad, etc.)
  • 5 years required, 7 years preferred of engineering management
  • Pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations
  • Engineering theory, principles and practices and their application
  • Design engineering software applications
  • Analyzing and interpreting complex mechanical and electrical applications
  • Ability to operate various types of office equipment including crimp tools, oscilloscopes, punches, amp meters, HI pot testers, and other electrical and mechanical tools
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical regulations (UL etc.)
  • Ability to use multiple design engineering software (Pro-E, Autocad, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree preferred
  • 10 years preferred of engineering, including industrial, mechanical, or related
  • 10 years preferred of design software expertise (Pro-E, AutoCad, etc.)
  • 7 years preferred of engineering management
  • Knowledge of international regulations is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Leads design and quotation engineering on key projects, and performs actual design work if necessary
  • Shares information between internal and external liaisons
  • Budgets and forecasts engineering expenditures for department
  • Provides designs to meet certification requirements (UL, CSA, Chademo etc)
  • Shares design with manufacturing management and engineering
  • Troubleshoots existing design issues by providing on site, field, engineering support
  • Supervises, coaches, recruits, and mentors direct and indirect reports
  • Provides billing information to customers on billable design time and maintains control documentation for new and on-going designs
