About The Position

This management position is responsible for leading circuit card build and test in Coralville’s Top-Level Team. The individual will lead all aspects of Top-Level engineering activities supporting sustainment and new product introduction in Coralville. The role will be responsible for leading a team of engineers for process improvement, yield improvement, and team management activities. The role will interface with areas of design engineering, test engineering, and program office.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. ​
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • An understanding of IPC 600, IPC 610, J-STD-001, and Collins Workmanship Standards.
  • Working proficiency with Program Office, Design Engineering, Drafting, Producibility, Advanced Manufacturing, Application Engineering and Design to Cost.

Nice To Haves

  • Utilized tools such as DOEs, PFMEAs, VSM’s, etc. in making process improvements
  • An understanding of electronics manufacturing product flow from material issue to final inspection
  • Basic understanding of SAP

Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities will encase new business capture, bidding activity, producibility reviews, new design and component integrations and process improvements including machine upgrades, roadmaps and design improvements.
  • Additional activities include the coordination and processing of Engineering builds in manufacturing, associated scheduling, work instruction creation, material availability and packaging, process flow, new process creation, quality, safety, and cost improvements.
  • This person will act as liaison to Program Office, Contracts, Purchasing, Pricing, Design, Drafting, Engineering
  • Supervision of employees, advising, planning, leading by example, maintaining a successful management/labor partnership, and development and execution of future state lean plans and capital investment strategies.
  • The individual must be able to work directly with all levels of leadership in program management, marketing, finance, engineering, quality, cost and other related areas. Prior supervisory experience is preferred as is a working knowledge of Collins policies and practices including safety and the business scorecard.
  • The position also requires outstanding verbal and written communication skills. The individual must be capable of providing technical leadership in support of cost-effective business decisions as they relate to the successful manufacture of new and existing products.
