The Manager of Engineering is responsible for leading a team of engineers in support of operational initiatives, including process improvements, facility start-ups, space utilization, sales support, and new technology research. This role ensures effective resource deployment, technical oversight, and implementation of best practices across the organization. The manager also leads lean projects and continuous improvement efforts to drive cost savings and operational excellence.

  • Manage at least two full-time exempt direct reports, including hiring, coaching, skill development, recognition, and performance management.
  • Drive adherence to process and productivity standards across facilities.
  • Set annual and quarterly improvement goals for sites and oversee compliance with labor and process standards.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Operations to research, specify, and justify technologies that meet customer requirements.
  • Build and scale the engineering team structure to align with company growth and strategic direction.
  • Evaluate and monitor operational productivity goals across all shifts to ensure performance targets are met.
  • Utilize Labor Management Systems and Performance Coaching and Observation principles to support production, quality, and safety objectives.
  • Support the Managing Director of Engineering in prioritizing and planning new project requests.
  • Coach and develop engineers in process improvement and project management competencies.
  • Independently manage project deliverables and schedules while mentoring fellow engineers.
  • Lead day-to-day engineering activities and participate in cross-functional projects with all levels of management.
  • Communicate effectively with hourly and salaried facility personnel to support engineering initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Strong management and prioritization skills, with experience leading multiple projects and influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, and Access.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer service orientation with strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret information.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Ability to sit, walk, or stand for the duration of the shift.
  • Must possess visual acuity to perform essential job functions.
  • Ability to conduct physical tasks with a full range of motion throughout the warehouse environment.
  • Ability to lift/carry items up to 50 pounds.
  • PMP Certification preferred.
  • Experience presenting analysis, strategy, and findings to senior leadership.
  • Knowledge of conveyance systems, automatic sortation, material handling equipment, and product storage systems is desirable.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% within the U.S. and Canada; additional international travel may be required.
