About The Position

The Engineering Manager is responsible for managing and supervising several departments within the engineering function of the company. This role includes planning, directing, and implementing the organization’s developmental engineering functions, ensuring compliance with all company policies and standards. The Engineering Manager will oversee reliability standards, mechanical systems, research and technical design functions, and the development of electronic parts and components. The position also involves ensuring health and safety standards are met, maintaining the Engineering Change System, and managing preventative maintenance standards on new equipment. The Engineering Manager will participate in the Health, Safety and Environmental program and will be responsible for managing engineering projects from design through qualification.

Requirements

  • BS or MS Degree in related Engineering field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a biotech, pharmaceutical or medical device setting.
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience in biotech, pharmaceutical or medical device setting.
  • Technical problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and perform well under stressful situations.
  • Strong logical and mathematical reasoning skills.
  • Technical reading interpretation and self-training.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with all company policies and standards.
  • Plans, directs, and implements the organization’s developmental engineering functions.
  • Ensures all processes prevent any health or safety risks.
  • Develops and maintains the Engineering Change System.
  • Responsible for the Plant’s current footprint and understanding the Plant’s future footprints according to business.
  • Determines preventative maintenance standards on new equipment.
  • Plans, directs and records periodic preventative maintenance and analysis of equipment.
  • Maintains updated drawings and specifications on all equipment.
  • Researches and implements cost-effective upgrades to the equipment and facilities.
  • Manages the Lean Manufacturing methodology with current, new or transferred programs.
  • Recommends and initiates modification or replacement of equipment that fails to meet operating standards.
  • Participates in the Health, Safety and Environmental program.
  • Manages feasibility studies of the design to determine if capable of functioning as intended.
  • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  • Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies.
  • Frequently interacts with management and employees of other departments to resolve issues.
  • Manages the coordination of the activities of the Engineering department with responsibility for results.
  • Assures compliance with FDA and EU Regulations.
  • Performs GAP analysis and provides recommendations for existing qualifications.
  • Manages engineering projects from design through qualification.
