About The Position

This is an open position at the Jersey Central Power & Light Company (JCP&L) a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. This position may be located in either the Morristown General Office or the Holmdel office location. This position is primarily responsible for understanding emergency preparedness and procedures across all of FirstEnergy and ensuring a cohesive response within JCP&L. Will partner and consult with JCP&L leaders and employees who are responsible for Emergency Preparedness communications, training and operation. Will coordinate and maintain departmental information and represent JCP&L's emergency preparedness to the media, government, regulatory, emergency management agencies, company executives and internal organizations. Will establish business relationships with internal and external customers, agencies, community emergency organizations, and public safety organizations. FirstEnergy takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location.  In addition, your actual base salary will depend on various factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience. The estimated pay range for this role is $133,620 - $188,640.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field OR the equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and skill in coordinating, developing, and/or documenting contingency plans such as procedures, emergency response and/or corporate business continuity plans.
  • Demonstrated experience and skill in preparing emergency response processes reports to meet criteria established by internal or external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience and skill in supporting emergencies.
  • Demonstrated experience and skill in managing cross functional relationships with internal customers at all levels and external stakeholders.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated experience and skill in managing and administering department objectives and systems.
  • Demonstrated experience and skill in using the advanced functions of PC based word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and email software to perform work functions.
  • Ability and willingness to wear and use safety equipment as required by Federal, State, local and company regulations.
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours with little or no advance notice, be on call, work off hours and be called back to work due to emergencies.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to and work at various locations for various periods of time as required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Keeping informed of activities or changes that could affect the likelihood of an emergency, as well as those that could affect response efforts, and provide notification and recommended actions to JCP&L leadership.
  • Developing and maintaining liaisons with municipalities, county departments, and similar entities in order to facilitate plan development and response effort coordination.
  • Developing, facilitating and observing training exercises, drills and training to ensure JCP&L readiness.
  • Coordinating and facilitating post event storm review meetings to gather lessons learned and recommended actions for continual process improvement.
  • Updating and maintaining JCP&L emergency preparedness information in E-Plan.
  • Updating all JCP&L storm roles annually along with ensuring all associated storm role training is coordinated and completed as required.
  • Understanding state, county and local government levels in order to be able to ensure emergency preparedness reports are prepared to meet criteria(s) established by each government office.
  • Supporting numerous emergency management and business continuity activities internal to the organization, such as attending and presenting emergency preparedness information at Incident Management Team meetings
  • Supporting the emergency management process during incidents which may include representing the company at emergency incident sites, serving as a liaison with other organizations, performing in an assigned second role and assisting other involved organizations as needed.
  • Bringing consistency and process improvement to emergency preparedness and response within JCP&L.
  • Evaluating and developing tools for a more effective and efficient emergency preparedness response.
