About The Position

Position Summary: The Manager, ED Registration is responsible for the operational leadership, administrative oversight, and daily supervision of all emergency department registration functions within their designated facility or facilities. The incumbent is accountable for all operational, administrative, and supervisory activities within the assigned area, ensuring emergency department registration services are performed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with regulatory, accreditation, revenue cycle, and health system standards. This role maintains responsibility for the planning, coordination, and evaluation of ED registration operations, including departments with multi-shift and around-the-clock operations reflective of the dynamic nature of emergency services. The Manager provides direct oversight to supervisory and registration coworkers and participates in hands-on operational activities as needed. This position is accountable for departmental performance, including operational processes, financial stewardship, and the accuracy of patient registration, insurance verification, and admission documentation, and collaborates with clinical, revenue cycle, and operational leadership to support quality improvement initiatives, coworker development, technology planning, and the achievement of departmental performance goals. The Manager is responsible for the oversight and maintenance of end-user information systems supporting registration functions, including participation in system enhancements, upgrades, and ongoing operational maintenance to ensure continuity and compliance. The Manager exercises independent judgment in managing day-to-day departmental operations, coworker scheduling, and the execution of established registration objectives seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

Requirements

  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must be fully versed in EMTALA and all regulatory requirements, including CMS, state and local regulations
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced and sensitive area
  • Must possess detailed knowledge of HPE and require
  • Collaborates with physicians, nursing leadership, ancillary departments, and house supervisors to address capacity constraints
  • Leads staff engagement, retention, and wellness initiatives in a high‑acuity, high‑stress environment.
  • Develops and implements policy and procedures to meet the job requirements and ensures coworkers are trained and compliant with P&Ps.
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Minimum 7 years managerial experience with demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated knowledge of managed care, commercial and government benefits and billing guidelines
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor productivity
  • Ability to problem solve, prioritize and organize work
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
