Come make a difference at MGIC. PURPOSE Plans and directs all activities related to providing systems development services and support to assigned user areas. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following statements describe the general nature of work performed by people assigned to this job, may not be performed by all individuals in this job, and are not a complete list of all job duties required. Management/Leadership Manages a team of direct reports. Leads and develops employees into a highly effective team by setting clear performance objectives and goals, regular and honest feedback, and individual development plans. Reviews workload across the team and effectively manages the process by appropriate work distribution. Provides feedback to ensure team members understand the role that they play and provides timely and effective direction. Responsible for the selection, performance evaluation, and salary administration of co-workers. Manages the operational and fiscal activities of the department including; staffing levels, budgets, operational controls and processes, and financial goals. Analyzes business processes and issues. Manages departmental policies, procedures, and standards to enhance efficiency and work quality. Develops solutions to problems with consideration for department goals. Leads team through the process of change both within the department and throughout the organization to achieve results related to MGIC’s corporate strategy. Tracks cross-team tasks to ensure alignment and timely delivery of solutions Responsibilities specific to this role: Serves as a delivery partner to Corporate Functions (HR, Finance, Legal) and Sales and Marketing business areas. Responds to requests for technical services from internal departments and estimates resources required. Negotiates priorities, product functionality, and project delivery dates. Resolves issues of conflicting requests from multiple departments. Manages the system development process. Ensures projects progress according to plan, provides for quality checks in process, and ensures work products meet departmental standards. Provide coaching, mentoring, training, and support for Agile and Partner teams in IS as well as “Agile Everyday” process for the business teams in support of key initiatives and other ideations. Leverages a coalition of other IS and business team members in a “dotted line” manner. Participates with other department managers and staff to create Information Systems policies, technical directions and strategic plans. Coordinates with other IS functions to ensure resources are available for successful completion of projects.

Requirements

  • Strong forecasting and planning skills
  • Strong knowledge of all tools and platforms used in development at MGIC
  • Ability to handle conflict effectively
  • Ability to prioritize tasks under pressure
  • Experience working in or managing teams responsible for support of Workday and Salesforce or similar SaaS products.
  • A minimum of 4 years in a lead or supervisory capacity is preferred.
