Someone who can elevate our brand’s visual identity with creativity, precision, and purpose. In this role, you’ll lead our creative design efforts, helping shape the way our brand is seen and experienced across the business and beyond. You’ll collaborate closely with our U.S. and international marketing, communications, and product teams, as well as with external partners and stakeholders. Attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines, and the ability to manage multiple design projects are must-have skills for this role. You’ll create visuals that captivate audiences, clearly communicate key messages, and inspire people to connect with our brand. Exceptional design skills are a must, along with a keen eye for layout, typography, and elevating the work of others. This is a highly visible role that requires leadership, collaboration, and presentation skills – you’ll be helping leaders and teams bring their vision to life through design. Hybrid role: approximately three days per week onsite at our Falls Church, Virginia location Travel required: while not extensive, this role includes travel to various BAE Systems locations to build relationships, understand our sites, programs, products, and – most importantly – our people

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in print and web design
  • Experience with developing multimedia materials
  • Experience with managing agencies and stakeholders/customers
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite, in particular InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator as well as experience with Microsoft applications
  • Must be able to prioritize heavy workloads based on deliverables and tight schedules
  • Must be able to be creative in a tightly managed brand
  • Must be motivated and driven to produce results
  • Ability to manage competing priorities with great attention to detail and with a strong ability to adapt design styles, visual tones, etc. to multiple design treatments, each with a unique voice, look, and feel
  • Ability to collaborate consistently and easily with other creative roles (designers, developers, and video production teams) and functions across the enterprise
  • Ability to independently manage and art direct complex creative projects within budget constraints
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-versed on both PC and Mac platforms

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute high-quality visual designs for digital, print, and multimedia platforms that align with the organization’s brand and business objectives.
  • Partner with Platforms & Services headquarters, our geographically dispersed business areas, and senior leadership to deliver creative solutions that meet diverse needs and priorities.
  • Design visually compelling presentations, reports, and materials to support senior leadership in communicating their vision and strategies effectively.
  • Collaborate with teams to understand requirements, recommend solutions and design materials for various channels and formats, including exhibitions, marketing collateral and social media.
  • Oversee multiple design projects simultaneously, managing timelines, budgets, and resources to deliver on time and within scope.
  • Translate complex ideas and messages into clear, engaging, and visually impactful designs that resonate with target audiences.
  • Provide leadership, feedback, and professional development opportunities to creative contributors and stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date with design trends, tools, and technologies to continuously enhance the quality and innovation of creative outputs.
  • Create and maintain a library of templates, graphics, and resources to streamline design processes and ensure efficiency.
  • Partner with business development, marketing, communications, HR, and other functional teams to create materials that support recruitment, employee engagement, and external outreach efforts.
  • Design materials that inspire and engage employees, customers, and stakeholders, helping to achieve business goals and foster connection.
  • Serves as a Platforms & Services Brand Guardian, ensuring all creative outputs adhere to brand guidelines, maintaining consistency and elevating the organization’s visual identity across all touchpoints.
